I was first introduced during this course and it was love at first site with this mini-technology (mini with a punch). It has gentle handling, easy implementation, but is packed with great results.
Last week I gave a 10 min presentation on the capabilities of the Flip. I started my presentation out by asking who owned a video camera. 6 out of 25 did. 1 of the 6 bought for under $200 and they bought used. I then talked about the specs, moved into samples and wrapped it up with a real life demo on how to film and upload. Easy steps and at the end people only wanted to know where they could purchase one!
When technology becomes less scary and adopted by the young and old as common place then the future of video will never be the same. I do believe that video will be transforming story telling beyond the boundaries of what we know.
I am filming my trip to Scotland, which will encompass over 2 weeks of footage. On my return I will edit my very own travel story. My background is not video, but with tools such as the flip and the base knowledge of storytelling…the task seems like fun instead of daunting. I will post the film up on this site and share my experience through out it. Stay tuned!
One last thing, I have to say that I am extremely lucky to be surrounded by such great talent and creativity here at the MCDM program!
