Or, How to Optimize UW Career Resources.
I and a couple of others graduate this quarter. I want to let you know about some of the resources available through the Career Center at Mary Gates Hall. I found out about them rather late in the game and I suggest you start much earlier (like NOW). (You may need to be logged into your UW account to view these.)
For those in their FIRST YEAR OF GRADUATE SCHOOL– This seminar on how to optimize your grad school experience is being held on November 20th from 4 to 5:45pm. http://tinyurl.com/5zzpkd.
For expanding beyond your job title or education area, take the Dependable Strengths Seminar. There is one in December after the quarter ends. It is an excellent investment to find out your personal trends and interests.Since most of the career fairs on campus are geared towards academia, engineering and the sciences, I think those of us on the softer side need to as many tools to see outside of the box as possible. This course has been invaluable to me on rewriting my resume, composing specific cover letters and (gulp!) actually talking to strangers about what I would bring to their company.
How to Interview Workshops. We can all use this refresher. There is one November 13th at 3:30 or November 18th at 3:30 at the Career Center, Mary Gates Hall Room 134.
