In honor of the retirement of Apple CEO Steve Jobs, announced Wednesday, this week’s viral video shows behind the scenes footage of the shaggy mastermind in the late 70’s joking around nervously as he prepares for a TV appearance.
Jobs had countless moments in the spotlight over his 24 year career with Apple, during which he acted as the public face of the company, rolling out innovative new products with sleek multimedia presentations to shareholders’ meetings.
The announcement was followed by a dramatic drop in Apple stock that invited doubts about the company’s ability to stay on top without its longtime leader at the helm. When Bill Gates passed off leadership of Microsoft to current CEO Steve Ballmer the company experienced an immediate and sustained decline in market share. Jobs’ time at with Apple, especially after he returned to the company in 1996, was marked by explosive growth.
Jobs will be replaced as CEO by Tim Cook, who the Onion hilariously reported, was going to re-focus the company on production of printers and fax machines.
