Viral Video: First World Problems

You’ve probably seen the hashtag “firstworldproblems” on Twitter. I know I’ve used it ironically a time or two, to poke fun at myself and the things that annoy me.

However, when those same tweets are read by Haitians living in poverty, they seem a little less funny. And it definitely makes me stop and reevaluate a little bit. That’s the beauty of this video by Water is Life. It takes a trivial piece of our digital lives and turns it into something a little deeper.

Using social media is so immediate. Here at the MCDM we use the phrase “publish then filter,” but this video makes me wish I filtered a little more.
