Seattle Seahawks fans plan to proudly record their game time volume to set a Guinness World record during their first home game of the season at Century Link Field September 15th 2013. Volume 12 a local fan group, hopes to beat the record of 132 decibels during this game against the 49ers.
In response to this record challenge the Hearing Speech and Deafness Center (HSDC) teamed up with Volume 12 to enhance awareness of Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) and support safe participation in this record setting event.
Volunteer Engagement Manager, Beu Fong, recruited and commissioned volunteers to put together earplugs and an info sheets and asked for volunteers to distribute these items at several locations. Volunteers are meeting at park & rides, transit centers, streets around Safeco Field and streets NE of Century Link Field.
I have volunteered to distribute earplugs and NIHL info sheets near the stadiums from 4pm-6pm and will live tweet my experience and photos of the awareness event and efforts!
