Summer is showing no sign of packing up and leaving anytime soon weather wise, but the fall conference circuit is already underway.
Visitors to this space have recently read about PAX, the attendant controversy, and Bumbershoot. We’re expecting somewhat more sedate behavior at today’s Geekwire conference and Century Link’s Social Media Lunch. More sedate – probably. Rife with networking and learning opportunities – the predicted attendance of both events indicates that many people think so.
Under the leadership of Todd Bishop and John Cook, Geekwire brings tech and business leaders together. Panels will run the gamut, from technology to the future of retail, with panelists as diverse as organic farm CEO Michael Smith to Jane Park, founder of eCommerce nail salon chain Julep.
While that full-day conference is happening, Century Link will be hosting its annual (and this year, sold-out) social media lunch at the Root Sports Lounge in Century Link Field. The informal networking opportunity
Those undaunted by traveling farther afield will find in Mashable’s technology conference list the perfect excuse to buy that plane ticket – although it includes the odd web-based conference, such as the Useful Social Media/Adobe free joint presentation in San Francisco. At the other end of the spectrum is the Social Media Strategy Summit, also in SF.
We’ve also been hearing about LavaCon, billed as a “multimedia publishing and content strategy” training opportunity coming up in Portland in late October.
