If you wanted to send an extra-special holiday greeting this year, the Seattle Opera had you covered.
Their call to action was this: “Send us a message you’d like to share with friends/family on social media this holiday season & from the first 50 entries received, we’ll record a 15-second mini-opera, on Instagram.”
This ask was broadcast via their website, through their official social channels & through the social channels of their employees (which is how I heard about it.) Their call to action was quickly answered (by myself & many others) with message submissions that ranged from bar mitzvah well wishes to pleas for Godzilla to calm down & enjoy some eggnog to the basics: Merry Christmas etc… As promised, the first 50 submissions were turned into personalized Instagram holiday cards of the operatic variety.
Compiled for your enjoyment are (the first) 12 ways the friends of The Seattle Opera wanted to say happy holidays:
What do you think about this innovative use of Instagram? (Does The Seattle Opera have it goin’ on? Do you wish you’d known about this before it was too late? Is it lame?)
