New Orleans’ Times-Picayune (one of the best, and most vital newspapers that still stands strong), featured “Independent America: Rising from Ruins” in an op-ed article today.
I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to find when I decided to race down to the Big Easy with Kirk, John and Adriana’s assistance in between winter and spring quarters. But my justification for doing so is precisely what I preach to younger, aspiring filmmakers, who ask me how they can get into the business.
Clearly, the technology and the means of distribution are readily available. If you have a story you’d like to tell, go find it and film it.

Congratulations!
This is great Hanson – I was hoping to see you and the boys with Mayor Ray (maybe you got that), but this is a great editorial and clearly points out the dilemma that faces NO and, quite frankly, other communities nationwide. There have recently been some throwdowns with big box retail in Puget Sound.
The salient substance of Independent America is that entrepreneurial energy is fostered at the smallest level – the individual proprietor or partnership – and one hopes that’s not lost in an age of unrelenting globalization and scaled-up business.
Well done!
