The Japanese Ministry of Telecommunications (JMT) announced that they expect traffic on domestic internet traffic be at stake in three years. They also suggest that all the providers should set a cap on their customer’s Internet usage. According to the JMT, the quantity of data on the net last year was 812G/sec, equivalent to more than two millions of DVD-R data. The number has increased more than twice in last three years. JMT attributes the spike to the on demand video services that have been taking over the rental videos for the last three years.
Expecting that the usage expands twice more in the next two years, JMT suggests that all the providers set a cap on the usage. NTT, one of the biggest providers in Japan, announced that it will set a cap and charge users whose usage exceeds 30 G a day. Folks, there will be a speed limit on the highway.

Great post Keiichi! Wow, so a fine will be imposed for exceeding the speed limit. I think this relates to the article we read in Wired “Free! Why $0.00 Is the Future of Business.”
In that basic services will be provided by the NTT (with limitations), but in order to reap the entire benefits of a service you must pay a fee. Very interesting, I bet the US will face similar problems as on demand video rental becomes more common.
I recommend to subscribe to RSS place in a conspicuous place! Readers will be more! Especially at a blog, how are you! Tested – a 30% increased the number of subscribers!
