Flip the Media
A blog about the digital media revolution

Has anybody ever seen the television show Three Sheets on the MOJO HD channel? It’s an informational show about drinking customs all over the world, with host comedian Zane Lamprey, and his trusted sidekick, Pleepleus (a stuffed monkey.) If you haven’t seen it, you have about two weeks to catch it before it goes off the air. Many of the shows fans are upset and have started using social networking sites in an attempt to save the show. They’ve started a Facebook group called “Save Three Sheets” and a google search of the same term turns up blogs encouraging fans to write to the network.

I’ve seen many a “save our show” campaign before, but the interesting thing here is that it’s not the show that has been cancelled. It’s the network. For unknown reasons, the MOJO network is calling it quits on December 1st. Three Sheets was arguably their most popular show and they have almost an entire unaired season in the can. So people that are writing to the network are actually writing to new networks, asking them to pick up the show. All they have to do is buy it and air it. The production is already finished, and the show has a built-in fan base ready to follow it wherever it may land. Networks being targeted are the Travel Channel, the Food Network, and Spike.

One interesting thing to note: one site I saw wanted desperately for this show to continue on the television, and not become an internet-only phenomenon.

Will this work? Only time will tell. But I say even if you’ve never seen the show, or if you have seen it and for some strange reason don’t like it, write to these networks anyway, join these groups, and let’s just see if we can make it work. It will be a magnanimous effort on your part, helping to save not only a show, but also, my job.
