Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson has unveiled an ambitious three-phase plan to transform Shreveport, Louisiana, through his G-Unit Film Studios. The media mogul’s vision aims to revitalize the downtown area, develop affordable housing, and implement youth programs, creating a vibrant community.
The first phase focuses on revitalization. Jackson has already begun purchasing and upgrading nearly two dozen properties in downtown Shreveport. Real estate broker Gerod Durden, who is closely working with Jackson, mentioned that the rapper has closed deals on several properties, including the former Drake building at 218 Texas Street and a nightclub location at 205 Texas Street. Other acquisitions include empty lots and buildings along U.S. Highway 71, adjacent to the Spring Street Historical Museum and Sand Bar nightclub.
Jackson’s revitalization efforts are not limited to real estate. He plans to introduce various entertainment spots for both adults and children, including a substantial jump park. Additionally, the team is considering opening a grocery store in downtown Shreveport to meet the community’s needs.
Once the revitalization phase is complete, the project will move into the second phase: housing. Orville Hall, Growth Advisor for G-Unit Film Studios, explained that the team aims to build houses and help low to moderate-income families secure mortgages. The third phase focuses on youth programs. Jackson’s team plans to introduce media programs in local high schools, offering training and mentorship opportunities.
