Richard Gere was the center of attention this Father’s Day, as his wife Alejandra Silva shared a touching tribute to the beloved actor. On Sunday, June 16, Alejandra posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, celebrating the 74-year-old star alongside a rare glimpse of their family life. The post featured several photos of Gere with their sons, Alexander, 5, and a younger son, 3, whose name remains private. Also included was Albert, 9, Alejandra’s son from a previous relationship.
The Pretty Woman actor, known for his private nature, had the faces of his children blurred in the photos, maintaining their anonymity. Alejandra, 41, captioned the post with a loving message: “Happy Father’s Day, to the most wonderful dad four boys could ever wish for. Your endless patience, love, and dedication are truly remarkable.”
In the first image, Gere is seen carrying one of his sons on his shoulders, with Alejandra and the other boys standing beside him in the sea. Another photo shows the family at the beach, with Richard and Alejandra standing proudly next to Albert, who is holding up a school certificate. A third image captures a joyful moment of Gere enjoying a milkshake with one of his children.
Alejandra continued her tribute in the caption, writing, “Happy Father’s Day to the man who is always there for us, making every moment special. Love, Mom, James, Alexander, Albert, Homer ♥️♥️ #happyfathersday.” Gere also shares a 24-year-old son, Homer James, with his ex-wife Carey Lowell, and is a stepfather to her daughter, Hannah.
The family celebration comes after Gere attended the afterparty of his film “Oh, Canada” at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in May. He was accompanied by Alejandra and his son Homer, both looking dapper in matching tuxedos, while Alejandra wore a stunning black floral-embroidered gown. Alejandra shared a photo from the event, expressing her pride with the caption, “Proud of him ♥️ #ohcanada #cannesfilmfestival #richardgere.”
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Spain, Gere opened up about his decision to move his family to Alejandra’s native Spain. He shared, “The truth is we don’t go out much. We have three small children. An 11-year-old, a 5-year-old, and a 4-year-old. So around 9:30 at night, we are all asleep. If we watch something, it will be on the big television we have at home.”
Gere expressed his excitement about the move, saying, “For me, going to Madrid is going to be a great adventure because I have never lived full-time outside of the United States. For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture. She was very generous in giving me six years living in my world, so I think it’s only fair that I give her at least another six of her living in hers.”
The actor also shared his admiration for Spain, stating, “I love Spain and I think your lifestyle is fabulous. Also your ability to live transmitting joy and happiness. It is a beautiful place, the food is extraordinary and the people exude sensitivity and generosity, as well as an iron will to laugh and enjoy. So I’m looking forward to going there.”
Richard Gere’s Father’s Day celebration was a heartwarming glimpse into the life of a man who, despite his fame, values his family above all else. Alejandra’s tribute highlighted the love and dedication Gere has for his children, making every moment special for them. As the family prepares for their new adventure in Spain, it’s clear that their bond will only grow stronger.
