Julianne Hough has reached out to fans for their prayers and support following a health scare involving her brother Derek Hough’s wife, Hayley Erbert. The Dancing with the Stars co-host took to Instagram to share an update on Erbert’s condition after she was hospitalized and underwent an emergency craniectomy.
On Thursday, Julianne, 35, reposted Derek’s message on her Instagram Story, urging fans to send their love and healing thoughts to Hayley and Derek. “Please pray and send all your love, healing and light to Hayley and Derek,” she wrote. “Thank you from the depths of our families hearts!”
Derek, 38, had earlier revealed that his wife, 29, was being treated for a cranial hematoma after becoming disoriented during their Symphony of Dance tour. “At the end of last night’s tour performance in Washington, D.C., my wife Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital,” he wrote. “She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy. She is in stable condition.”
Numerous celebrities and fans have since sent their well wishes to the couple. Jenna Dewan commented, “Prayers and love for you both!!!” while Peta Murgatroyd added, “Omg Derek. Please send her our love!!” Xochitl Gomez also shared her support, writing, “Focusing all my positivity and well wishes directly toward Hayley. She is a shining light.”
Derek and Hayley, who got married on August 26, had just started their Symphony of Dance tour on September 28. There is no word yet on whether upcoming tour dates will be postponed due to Erbert’s health scare.
Julianne Hough has been a pillar of support for her brother during this challenging time. Speaking at the grand opening of her Kinrgy studio in West Hollywood, she emphasized the importance of being a stable force for her family. “The more you can trust yourself and know you’re in a secure place, then you can have the capacity for others,” she said. “With their situation, being able to be a very stable force was needed—and I think appreciated because I could get the things done that they weren’t thinking about.”
Julianne also shared her own self-care practices, which include working out and engaging in Kinrgy, her fitness platform. “For me, working out and Kinrgy are about finding strength and inner peace,” she explained. “No matter the hurricane, I can be in the eye of the storm, and handle anything.”
Hayley Erbert has shown remarkable resilience throughout her recovery. She recently made a public appearance with Derek and Julianne at the opening of Julianne’s Kinrgy Fitness Studio in West Hollywood. Hayley, who has undergone multiple skull surgeries, appeared in good spirits, sporting a new pixie hairstyle.
Derek has been vocal about his admiration for his wife’s strength. “She’s doing amazing,” he told ET. “I can’t say enough, I really can’t, how inspiring she is. She’s doing better each day. There’s still some things we need to sort out, but even now, when I look back at where we were just a couple of months ago to where she is now, it’s miraculous. It really is.”
In her first public remarks after the surgery, Hayley shared a tearful video on Instagram, expressing her gratitude for the support she has received. “I’m doing so much better every single day, so much progress every single day,” she said. “A new haircut, a new scar, a new sac of fluid on the side of my face, which is supposed to eventually go away. A new skull. But also, a new outlook on life. Life is so precious. Spend time with the ones you love. Hold them close ’cause you never know what could happen.”
Julianne’s call for prayers and support has resonated with many, highlighting the importance of family and community during difficult times. As Hayley continues her recovery, the outpouring of love and positivity from fans and friends alike serves as a testament to the strength and resilience of the Hough family.
