Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky recently put their differences aside to give their youngest daughter, Portia, an unforgettable surprise for her 16th birthday. Despite their separation last summer, the reality TV stars came together to present Portia with her very first car, a brand-new Porsche.
The heartwarming moment was captured by their older daughter, Sophia, in a TikTok video. The video shows Richards and Umansky leading Portia to the front door, where they playfully ask, “Whose car is that?” As Portia realizes the car is hers, she becomes emotional, tears streaming down her face as she approaches the bow-topped vehicle.
In the video, Portia’s disbelief is evident as she stands beside her new Porsche. Both parents embrace her, sharing in her joy and excitement. Another TikTok post shows Portia taking her new car for a spin, with her two sisters and mom in the backseat, while Umansky rides up front.
Although Portia is eager to hit the road, she currently only has a learner’s permit. A recent TikTok video from Sophia documents Portia’s visit to the DMV, where she passed her behind-the-wheel exam but must wait another month to obtain her official license. “It’s only been five months since I took the permit test. I need to wait another month to take this stupid thing,” Portia explained, visibly frustrated but proud of her accomplishment.
Portia’s 16th birthday in March was another occasion that brought Richards and Umansky together. Photos from the event show the parents walking into an intimate gathering with the birthday girl. Despite their separation, the couple remains amicable as they navigate their new family dynamics.
In July 2023, PEOPLE confirmed Richards and Umansky’s separation after months of rumors. A source close to the couple revealed that they had been living under the same roof despite their split. The insider noted, “They remain amicable as they figure out what’s next for them and their family.”
On the day the news broke, Richards and Umansky released a joint statement on Instagram, addressing the rumors. “In regards to the news that came out about us today… Any claims regarding divorcing are untrue,” they wrote. “However, yes, we have had a rough year. The most challenging one of our marriage. But we both love and respect each other tremendously.”
The statement continued, “There has been no wrongdoing on anyone’s part. Although we are in the public eye, we ask to be able to work through our issues privately. While it may be entertaining to speculate, please do not create false stories to fit a further salacious narrative.”
Fans of the family have shared their thoughts on Portia’s new Porsche, with many praising her gratitude and the parenting skills of Richards and Umansky. One social media user commented, “I love that even though they are rich and have had everything their entire lives they are still so grateful and kind ladies! Bravo parents!!!!!” Another added, “Good parenting! Her tears and gratitude say it all.”
Richards and Umansky share three daughters: Alexia, 27, Sophia, 24, and Portia, 16. Umansky also helped raise Farrah, 35, whom Richards welcomed during her first marriage to Guraish Aldjufrie.
As for their current status, Richards and Umansky are still separated, with Umansky having moved out of their Beverly Hills home. He found a new place in West Hollywood in April, marking a new chapter in their lives. Richards described the transition as “strange” and “very real,” noting the quietness of the house after Umansky moved out.
Fans can expect to see more of Richards and Umansky’s separation journey in the upcoming season of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” as Richards confirmed her return for Season 14, which is currently filming.
The family continues to navigate their new normal, but moments like Portia’s 16th birthday show that their bond remains strong despite the challenges.
