Kwon Eunbi Reflects on IZ*ONE Leadership and Most Challenging Member
Kwon Eunbi, the former leader of the popular K-pop girl group IZ*ONE, recently opened up about her experiences leading the group and the challenges she faced with certain members. In a candid interview, Eunbi shared insights into her journey, the dynamics within the group, and how these experiences have shaped her career.
IZ*ONE was formed through the Mnet reality TV competition Produce 48 in 2018, bringing together trainees from various entertainment companies and members of Japanese girl group HKT48. The group quickly rose to fame, captivating fans with their performances and music. However, leading such a diverse group came with its own set of challenges.
Eunbi, who was a trainee under Woollim Entertainment before joining IZ*ONE, was chosen as the leader of the group. Reflecting on her leadership role, she said, “Being the leader of IZ*ONE was both an honor and a huge responsibility. I had to ensure that everyone felt included and motivated, which was not always easy given our different backgrounds and personalities.”
One of the most challenging aspects of her leadership, Eunbi revealed, was managing the varying dynamics within the group. “There were a lot of members, and each one had their own unique personality and way of working. It was a constant balancing act to make sure everyone was on the same page,” she explained.
Eunbi also spoke about the member she found most challenging to work with. While she did not name anyone specifically, she mentioned that there were times when communication and understanding were difficult. “There were moments when I felt like I couldn’t get through to certain members. It was frustrating, but it also taught me a lot about patience and empathy,” she said.
Despite these challenges, Eunbi emphasized that the experience was ultimately rewarding. “Leading IZ*ONE helped me grow as a person and as an artist. I learned so much about teamwork, leadership, and the importance of supporting each other,” she shared.
Eunbi’s reflections on her time with IZ*ONE also highlighted the strong bonds she formed with her fellow members. “We went through so much together, and those experiences created a deep connection between us. Even though we had our differences, we always found a way to come together and support each other,” she said.
After IZ*ONE disbanded in early 2021, Eunbi continued her career in the entertainment industry. She released her solo debut mini-album, “Open,” in August 2021, showcasing her versatility as an artist. Reflecting on her solo career, Eunbi said, “Going solo was a new challenge for me. It was exciting but also nerve-wracking because I was stepping out on my own for the first time.”
Eunbi also shared her thoughts on the future and her aspirations as an artist. “I want to continue growing and evolving as a performer. There are so many things I still want to explore and achieve in my career,” she said.
In addition to her solo activities, Eunbi has remained close with her former IZ*ONE members. “We still keep in touch and support each other’s endeavors. The bond we formed during our time in IZ*ONE is something that will always be special to me,” she said.
