Amid a turbulent split from his wife Firerose, Billy Ray Cyrus has found solace in the words of his youngest daughter, Noah Cyrus. The 62-year-old country singer took to Instagram to share a heartfelt throwback photo of himself with Noah, accompanied by lyrics from her song “Noah (Stand Still).” The track, which appears on Noah’s 2022 debut album “The Hardest Part,” holds special significance for Billy Ray during this challenging period. The father-daughter duo even recorded a duet version of the song.
“I’m so proud of this little girl. Noah has grown into an incredible young lady. Sometimes you gotta take your daughter’s advice and just ‘Stand Still,'” Billy Ray captioned his post. The second slide featured poignant lyrics from the song: “As you get older, it gets harder to change / You might find yourself alone with just your shame / But it’s not over / It’s all gonna be ok / And when times are tough remember what I say.”
The lyrics continue with a family-focused message: “My grandfather told my father, ‘It don’t get easier, just harder / Yes, it will, remember just stand still / And when all the hope and joy you feel turns into paranoia / ‘Cause it will, remember just stand still.” These words resonate deeply with Billy Ray, who is currently navigating a tumultuous divorce from Firerose after just eight months of marriage.
Billy Ray and Firerose first met on the set of “Hannah Montana,” where they became musical collaborators before tying the knot on October 10, 2023, in Franklin, Tennessee. However, their marriage quickly soured, leading both parties to file legal documents accusing each other of misconduct. According to divorce documents obtained by ET, Billy Ray filed for divorce on May 23, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct.” He also noted “consent to marriage was obtained by fraud” under “Grounds for Annulment.”
In a dramatic turn, Billy Ray later filed for a temporary restraining order against Firerose, alleging that she had spent nearly $100,000 using his business credit card. Firerose responded with her own set of allegations, claiming that Billy Ray was emotionally, psychologically, and verbally abusive. She also accused him of interfering in her music career and subjecting her to his persistent drug use, which she said made him unpredictable and volatile.
Firerose further accused Billy Ray of financial abuse and claimed that he intentionally delayed her long-planned surgery, a preventative double mastectomy. In new court documents filed earlier this week, Billy Ray refuted these accusations, instead accusing Firerose of physically, verbally, and emotionally abusing him. “While the plaintiff [Cyrus] would acknowledge that he was certainly vocal, frustrated, and angry with the defendant [Firerose] in May 2024, it is [Cyrus] who, in fact, has been abused,” the documents state. “Not only verbally and emotionally by the defendant, but also physically by the defendant.”
Billy Ray also claimed that Firerose threatened to ruin his career if he considered divorcing her, allegedly saying, “If you ever think of divorcing me right now, I will tell everyone that you did it because of the double mastectomy and your career will be over.”
Meanwhile, Noah Cyrus has been dealing with her own family drama. Rumors have circulated that the 24-year-old GRAMMY nominee had a romantic relationship with 54-year-old actor Dominic Purcell before her mother, Tish Cyrus, married him. Tish and Dominic tied the knot in August 2023, with Tish’s daughters Brandi and Miley Cyrus by her side. Notably absent were Noah and her brother, Braison Cyrus.
A source told ET that the rumors about Noah and Purcell have been “exaggerated,” but noted that “Noah and Tish haven’t been close since Tish started dating Dominic.” The source added, “It’s also been an adjustment for Noah in general for her parents to be divorced. Tish didn’t invite Noah to her wedding because she thought it would cause a scene and drama.”
Neither Tish nor Dominic have publicly addressed the rumors or detailed their current relationship with Noah. However, Noah did celebrate her mom’s birthday last month with multiple throwback photos on her Instagram Story. She has also made some NSFW replies to social media commenters who bring up the alleged family feud.
