Emma Roberts has recently opened up about her experience working with Kim Kardashian on the set of “American Horror Story: Delicate,” and she had nothing but praise for the reality TV star turned actress. In the 12th season of the popular horror anthology series, Emma plays an actor named Anna, while Kim takes on the role of her publicist, Siobhan. The casting decision, made by AHS creator Ryan Murphy, was initially met with skepticism due to Kim’s limited acting background. However, Kim quickly silenced her critics with a standout performance.
Emma, who has been a part of the AHS family since her debut in “Coven” back in 2013, shared her thoughts on Kim’s casting during an appearance on the “Table For Two” podcast. She recalled the moment Ryan Murphy informed her about Kim’s role. “He called me one day and said, ‘Kim Kardashian, playing your publicist,’ and I thought, ‘This is why you’re you, that is genius,'” Emma recounted. She praised Ryan’s decision, calling it a stroke of genius to cast Kim as a celebrity publicist.
Despite initial doubts about Kim’s acting abilities, she quickly proved herself to be one of the most prepared actors Emma has ever worked with. “I’ve come to work sometimes, and people — that I won’t name, but you know who they are — they don’t know their lines at all, which, whatever, it’s fine, we all have those days. But she knew every single line,” Emma said on the podcast. She emphasized Kim’s professionalism and dedication to her role, noting that she was always well-prepared and confident on set.
Emma also highlighted Kim’s down-to-earth demeanor, which was a pleasant surprise given her immense fame. “She doesn’t have a huge entourage, she’s very normal,” Emma said. “And that was also really inspiring to see.” This sentiment was echoed by Emma’s recollection of her early interactions with Kim, long before the Kardashian family became household names. Emma reminisced about shopping at the Kardashians’ now-defunct clothing store, DASH, in Calabasas. “I used to buy jeans from them at DASH in Calabasas,” she said, adding that she was around 12 or 13 at the time. “This is right before they did their show, and I had a show on Nickelodeon. I thought it was so cool that I could afford to buy Seven7 jeans at DASH from working.”
Emma and Kim’s collaboration on “American Horror Story: Delicate” has been a full-circle moment for both women, who grew up in the same area. “At the end of the day, we’re just two girls from Calabasas,” Emma said, reflecting on their shared history.
Kim’s transition into acting has been met with positive feedback, with many praising her performance in “Delicate.” Emma was not surprised by Kim’s success, describing her as “one of the most prepared actors [she’s] worked with.” She also admired Kim’s ability to be open and vulnerable on set, a quality that Emma herself sometimes struggles with despite her two decades of acting experience. “She also will just look you in the eye and do it,” Emma said. “To be that open and vulnerable — and I still get embarrassed sometimes and I’ve been acting for 20 years — she’s super professional, confident.”
Kim’s work ethic and professionalism have clearly left a lasting impression on Emma. “She’s one of the most prepared people I’ve ever worked with, and she’s just chill,” Emma said in a separate interview with “Extra.” “I love her so much.”
The camaraderie between Emma and Kim extended beyond their professional interactions. Emma shared a humorous anecdote from the set, recalling a scene where they had to kiss. “We kissed, and they said ‘cut,’ and Kim looked at me and started laughing. And I was like, ‘What?’ and I just had her gloss all over my face,” Emma recounted on “The Tonight Show.” The actors had to do major cleanup between takes due to Kim’s perfectly glossed lips. Despite the intensity of the scene, Emma assured that they were laughing throughout the process.
Kim’s dedication to her role extended to her physical appearance as well. In an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” Kim discussed the challenges of filming a scripted series compared to her reality show. “I called my sisters and I go, ‘Guys. You — not to say you’d ever want to get into acting — but you are so lucky you can wake up and just, we can sit in bed and film, and you don’t have to get up, hair and makeup, film at your own hours, like there is no schedule,'” she shared.
“American Horror Story: Delicate” has been a significant milestone in Kim’s career, showcasing her versatility and dedication as an actress. Emma’s admiration for Kim’s work ethic and professionalism is a testament to the reality star’s successful transition into the world of acting. As the season continues to unfold, fans can look forward to more captivating performances from both Emma and Kim.
