The story continues.
Today, Lainey Wilson released the third song and a music video from her forthcoming Whirlwind album called “4x4xU.” This new track serves as a follow-up to “Hang Tight Honey,” which she just released yesterday.
“Hang Tight Honey” captures Lainey on the road, doing what she loves while missing someone special back home. The song delves into the elusive balance between work and family. She enjoys performing for fans who know how to get “straight up sideways,” but the thought of reuniting with her loved one keeps her going. The video ends with Lainey and her man getting off the bus to head home, setting the stage for the “4x4xU” video, which picks up with them getting into a truck to drive away.
Lainey previously mentioned that she felt the two songs were a perfect pair, making it only right to release the videos in this sequence. The creative storytelling aspect of both songs, whether together or separate, is something she cherishes.
“4x4xU” was co-written by Lainey along with Jon Decious and Aaron Raitiere. The song is a love ballad about finding “home” no matter where you are in the world, as long as you’re with the one you love. It’s a rare, stripped-back love song from Lainey, and fans are hoping for more in this vein on her upcoming album. Lainey believes this could be her biggest song yet, and it’s easy to agree given its unique place in her broader catalog.
“I’m so excited for everyone to finally have their hands on ‘4x4xU.’ This song is about finding that someone that gives you the comfort and peace of home anywhere in the world as long as you’re by their side. Thank you to the incredible Dano Cerny for directing this video and bringing the vision to life, and to all of my collaborators on this record for being a part of what I think could be my biggest song yet,” Lainey shared.
Directed by Dano Cerny, the new video for “4x4xU” is now available for viewing. Whirlwind is set to be released everywhere on August 23rd, and fans can also watch the accompanying “Hang Tight Honey” video.
