Daisy Edgar-Jones cut a chic figure as she attended a rainy photocall for her new film “Twisters” in London on Tuesday afternoon. The “Normal People” actress, 26, looked stunning in a sheer blue midi dress with a flattering square neckline, which she paired with black tights. She boosted her height with shiny black stilettos and wore her long honey tresses in loose waves over her shoulders while opting for natural makeup.
She was joined at the photocall by her handsome co-star Glen Powell, 35, who wore a smart suede khaki jacket. The stars of the new film didn’t seem put off by the rainy weather as they put on an animated display and huddled under a large umbrella.
In May, a trailer of the flick was released, which opened at an Oklahoma rodeo with a crowd watching a bull rider until swirling leaves entered the arena followed by a storm siren. The animals fled along with the crowd, and a truck trying to drive away from the chaos was lifted up by the wind and tossed into an electric sign.
“A once in a generation tornado outbreak continues across Oklahoma,” a TV weatherman reported as Kate Cooper, played by 25-year-old English actress Daisy, was studying the storm from afar at a federal weather agency. A supervisor asked Kate for help with tornadoes after admitting that he’d never seen any like them before.
“No, I don’t chase anymore,” Kate said. After being told that her help could save lives, Kate reluctantly agreed to give him one week. Kate joined NASA and FEMA experts in Oklahoma and was surprised when self-described ‘tornado wrangler’ Tyler Owens, played by Glen, 35, arrived.
“If you feel it,” Tyler said to his adoring fans. She put on a confident display in the sheer number which clung to her toned and slim physique. The stunning dress featured a statement silver clasp over her shoulder, which she showed off at the photocall. In May, a trailer of the flick was released, which opened at an Oklahoma rodeo with a crowd watching a bull rider until swirling leaves entered the arena followed by a storm siren. Hamilton star Anthony Ramos joined his co-stars and wore an all-black ensemble as they posed as a trio at the photocall.
“Chase it!,” they hollered back. Tyler was shown telling Kate that his crew was different and didn’t need fancy equipment and doctorate degrees. “Sometimes the old ways are better than the new,” Tyler said. “Well, you can always trust a guy who puts his face on a T-shirt,” Kate quipped as a shirt was shown with a graphic of Tyler and the phrase, “Not My First Tornadeo.”
Tyler shot fireworks into a tornado much to the surprise of Kate and told her, “You got quite the reputation, city girl.” He later questioned Kate about her theory that she can disrupt a tornado. She admitted to getting her test wrong in the field. “We never had a chance,” Kate said. “You want one?,” Tyler asked. They both then chased down a tornado together that turned out to be a twin storm system. “They’re combining,” Kate warned.
Kate and Tyler were shown in a town named Reno as a tornado touched down and knocked down a water tower. They raced along near an oil refinery being ripped apart by a tornado as the trailer ended. A note at the end said that Universal Pictures is partnering with the American Red Cross to help people affected by disasters.
It has been a rainy week in London, but they were still out in force for the photocall. Producer Ashley Jay Sandberg and director Lee Isaac Chung were also present. Anthony, 32, completed his smart look with comfortable white trainers. “Twisters” is scheduled to be released in cinemas on July 19. The film directed by Lee Isaac Chung also stars Anthony Ramos and features Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Kiernan Shipka, and Paul Scheer.
“Twisters” is a stand-alone sequel to the 1996 film “Twister” that starred Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Jami Gertz, and Cary Elwes. The classic film sees two storm chasers on the brink of divorce be forced to work together to create an advanced weather alert system by putting themselves in the cross-hairs of extremely violent tornadoes.
