Naomi Campbell, one of the most iconic supermodels of the 90s, continues to maintain an enviable figure at 54. Her secret? A disciplined diet that involves eating just once a day and avoiding dairy and gluten.
In an interview with The Sun in April 2020, Naomi revealed her unique eating habits. “I eat my lunch. Lunch is my dinner because I really only eat once a day,” she said. This approach to eating has been a part of her routine for years, and she has experimented with various diets, including periods where she consumes only water or juice instead of solid food.
Despite having a personal chef, Naomi enjoys doing her own grocery shopping. In a YouTube video from July 2019, she shared her love for shopping at Whole Foods, where she picks up items like pears, lemons, grapes, peaches, fresh basil, fruit-flavored yogurts, and raisins. “I need to do my own groceries, I can’t order them online. I don’t like them,” she explained, adding that she finds grocery shopping therapeutic.
Naomi’s personal chef, Sean John, has been cooking for her for over a decade. He describes her as “basically a vegetarian/pescatarian” and notes that she avoids chicken, gluten, and dairy products. “I prepare one really good meal a day, and it’s super clean and really healthy,” John told Page Six. He also prepares meals for her air travel, as Naomi doesn’t eat plane food. “She’s an Ital, which is a Jamaican word for clean vegetarian style, like Bob Marley rasta talk,” he added.
Flavor is crucial in Naomi’s diet. “She has to have flavor. You can’t just put salt and pepper in it,” John said. “There’s got to be some spice and herbs. She’s all about making it soulful and flavorful.”
Naomi’s disciplined approach extends beyond her diet. In an episode of her YouTube series “No Filter with Naomi,” she shared her daily routine with Serena and Venus Williams. “Get up. Hit the floor. Pray,” she said, emphasizing the importance of starting her day with prayer and a shower. “I can’t leave the house without showering,” she added.
Naomi’s strict eating habits also include fasting. She has admitted to fasting for days before fashion shows. “I eat when I feel like it, and I don’t starve myself. If I want to do a day of just not eating, I do it and just do water or juice. Depends how I feel. In the heat, sometimes I just want to do juice,” she explained. Her fasting is not planned and can vary from one to two days a week, depending on how she feels.
On Sundays, Naomi allows herself a treat. “Sunday is my treat, so I’ll make desserts, my cakes, and puddings,” she said. Even on treat days, she refrains from using dairy and gluten in her cooking.
Naomi’s disciplined lifestyle and unique approach to diet and wellness have undoubtedly contributed to her ageless beauty and enviable figure. Her commitment to eating clean, flavorful meals and her ability to listen to her body’s needs are key components of her wellness routine.
