England fans at The Killers concert in London had front row seats to the best watch party in town on Wednesday. While playing at The O2 in London, the band broadcast the ending of the England-Netherlands Euro 2024 semifinal match on a big screen, allowing fans to view the moment The Three Lions secured their 2-1 victory to advance to the final.
In videos posted to social media, the final moments of the match can be seen on a big screen at the concert venue, and once the victory is confirmed, tons of red and white streamers can be seen being launched into the concert crowd. The Killers immediately began their hit song, “Mr. Brightside,” which sent the crowd into even more of a frenzy — partly because it’s one of the band’s most popular songs, but mostly because, according to The Independent, the hit has become one of the UK’s most beloved rock songs since it was released over two decades ago.
Late substitute Ollie Watkins was the hero of the day for England, after he buried a strike into the bottom left corner of the net in the 90th minute of the match. The striker came on to replace captain Harry Kane, who also had a goal for England with a penalty in the first half.
The Killers perfectly timed the final whistle of the match to the drop of their hit song, and fans all over social media had nothing but praise for the magical moment. “Wow! England win live @thekillers show at @TheO2 ! Drop straight into Mr Brightside,” one user captioned their video.
England will make back-to-back appearances in the final of the Euros, and will now face Spain for the title on Sunday. All the action kicks off at 3 p.m. ET on FOX and the FOX Sports App.
The Killers took over The O2 in London on Wednesday night (July 10), and the rock group got to treat their English fans to a once-in-a-lifetime moment. In videos circulating social media, the band is seen pausing their show to air the end of the England vs. Netherland semifinal game for UEFA Euro 2024. Right as England took home the win with a score of 2-1, red and white confetti was shot into the crowd at the O2 for celebration, and The Killers delved straight into one of their biggest hits, “Mr. Brightside.”
England will now be going to their second successive European Championship final, and they’ll be going up against Spain on Sunday (July 14).
The Killers, meanwhile, will be hosting a series of special residency shows in Las Vegas later this summer. The band consisting of vocalist Brandon Flowers, guitarist Dave Keuning, bassist Mark Stoermer and drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their iconic debut album, Hot Fuss, by performing the record in full for the first time ever during their residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Hot Fuss, released in 2004, yielded the hit singles “Mr. Brightside”, “Somebody Told Me”, “All These Things That I’ve Done” and “Smile Like You Mean It.” The album peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 albums chart upon its release.

During the penultimate show of The Killers’ six-date residency at the O2 Arena in London, the band stopped the gig mid-show to watch England secure a 2-1 victory against the Netherlands during the UEFA Euros semi-finals. Ten songs into their performance, Brandon Flowers and co. paused the concert to watch the clashing Euros semi-finals with the O2 audience. After England secured the victory, red and white streamers were fired to raucous applause, and the band dove right into ‘Mr. Brightside’ to celebrate.

At @thekillers gig tonight, they paused it so we could see the last two minutes of the England game – when we won, the roof lifted off the place as they launched into ‘Mister Brightside’… Class act, Brandon. pic.twitter.com/q5pmGMmFup

Drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. also donned the England jersey for a portion of the show.
The Killers’ first night at the O2 Arena on July 8 scored them a four-star review, with Thomas Smith writing for NME: “The tone of the evening remains consistent: a balance of big hits and deep cuts from their entire discography. ‘Smile Like You Mean It’, ‘Spaceman’ and ‘Somebody Told Me’ are performed with bombast and urgency, as Flowers assumes the role of gracious host, reminding the audience that he and his band are in the service industry, gleefully here to facilitate the best of times. The smart staging – diamond-shaped lighting and a garishly-patterned casino carpet – complements the dazzling black number that Flowers sashays and flexes in.”
The Killers aren’t the only ones who have paused a show to watch the Euros. Over the weekend, James Corden delayed the start of his play The Constituent to watch the penalty shootout between England and Switzerland, even bringing an iPad onstage before the show to commentate for the audience.
