Anonymous Content has announced the signing of director Anthony Mandler. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for both parties, as Mandler brings a wealth of experience and a unique vision to the table.
Mandler’s most recent project is the MGM Western drama “Surrounded,” which he directed and produced. The film stars Letitia Wright, Jamie Bell, and the late Michael K. Williams. “Surrounded” premiered at the Sun Valley Film Festival and was released digitally in June 2023, receiving positive reviews for its compelling storytelling and strong performances.
Looking ahead, Mandler is set to direct the psychological thriller “Head Games,” featuring Samuel L. Jackson and Henry Golding. The film, scripted by Colin Liddle, is scheduled to begin production in Rome in October. This project promises to be another exciting addition to Mandler’s diverse portfolio.
Mandler made his feature film directorial debut with the critically acclaimed 2018 Netflix film “Monster.” The movie stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jennifer Hudson, Jeffrey Wright, John David Washington, and Jennifer Ehle. Written by Radha Blank, Cole Wiley, and Janece Shaffer, “Monster” is based on the 1999 YA novel by Walter Dean Myers. Through his production company, Arcovison Pictures, Mandler has also built a successful career in producing and directing commercials, as well as executive creative campaigns. His work has garnered over 15 billion views in total. One of his notable projects is the socially conscious spot “The Look” for Procter & Gamble, which brings attention to social diversity and race. This spot was awarded best direction at the Clio Awards in 2019.
Before transitioning to narrative storytelling, Mandler made a significant impact in the music video industry. He directed videos for some of the biggest names in music, including Rihanna, Taylor Swift, The Killers, Jay-Z, The Weeknd, and Drake. He also collaborated on a trilogy of short films with Grammy winner Lana Del Rey, showcasing his versatility and creative vision.
Mandler began his career as a photographer, capturing editorial and commercial work that highlighted cultural icons and moments. He continues to pursue photography today, maintaining a strong connection to his roots.
