Eminem was a proud father of the bride at his daughter Hailie Jade’s wedding. Hailie Jade Scott and her fiancé Evan McClintock finally tied the knot on Saturday during an intimate gathering in Battle Creek, MI. According to TMZ, the Detroit rapper arrived at the celebration in a dapper black tux and matching sunglasses. In photos posted by the outlet, Eminem can be seen with the newlyweds and leading his second-oldest child in a special father-daughter dance. Hailie Jade was all smiles while she danced with her father in front of a crowd of people.
The tear-jerking moment comes decades after Eminem first rapped about his pride and joy on songs like “Kim,” “Cleaning Out My Closet,” “Hailie’s Song,” and “Mockingbird.” Over the years, Hailie Jade has had a front-row seat to the greatest moments of her father’s music career, including his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and surprise performances with his close friends like 50 Cent. Hailie and Evan’s wedding only comprised close friends and family, but Eminem made sure some of his longtime friends were there to witness the rare moment. TMZ confirmed that 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, and Interscope’s Jimmy Iovine were on the guest list. This shouldn’t shock most loyal fans since the tight-knit crew has supported one another for other momentous occasions in the past. Eminem, Fif, and Iovine recently supported Dr. Dre after he got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
After the wedding celebration ended, Eminem got back to business and revealed a new update about his forthcoming album. In a cryptic video he posted on Monday night, May 20, Em revealed a suspicious text message that said, “…and now for my last trick!” The date of the message says “May 31, 2024,” which seems like a release date for his upcoming album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). Look out for more updates about his new album coming soon, and check out more scenes from Hailie Jade’s wedding below.
Eminem gets deep on “The Death Of Slim Shady.” Today, Eminem finally unveiled his eagerly anticipated new album, The Death Of Slim Shady. So far, the project has elicited all kinds of reactions, and many are impressed with how much the Detroit MC tapped into his emotional side. On one track featuring Skylar Grey, for example, he sends a heartfelt message to his eldest daughter Hailie Jade. It features somber vocals from Grey and recordings from Hailie Jade’s childhood. Needless to say, it’s a tear-jerker.
The song, titled “Temporary,” is intended for the 28-year-old to listen to once her father passes away and includes advice on getting through the difficult loss and moving forward. “Look after Alaina, Stevie, and Uncle Nate/ And sweetie, be strong, I know I was your rock,” he rhymes. “And I still am, saying goodbye is just not/ Ever easy, why you crying? Just stop.” At the end of the song, Em admits that it was the “hardest thing” he’s ever written, and fans can see why. They’re sharing their reactions to the emotional track on X in the form of GIFs and memes, and agree that it’s one of the more memorable moments from The Death Of Slim Shady.
This isn’t the only tear-inducing song on the album, however. Eminem also gets deep on “Somebody Save Me” featuring Jelly Roll, which sees him reflect on past mistakes and how they impacted his relationship with his family. He apologizes to his daughters for missing milestones in their lives and shares dreams of walking both of them down the aisle, which he accomplished over the past year.
Eminem fans have been waiting quite some time to get a new album from the rapper — four years to be exact. So when he finally dropped the 19-track The Death of Slim Shady Friday (July 12), longtime admirers were quick to rejoice on social media. “I’m speechless,” one person tweeted a few hours after the album dropped. “25 years later & it’s a full circle moment. Eminem delivers one of his best albums & showing us what Slim Shady does one last time.”
Another fan added, “He just dropped the best album within the last decade … Your favorite rapper can’t f–king compete,” while someone else raved, “Lyrics, word play, message, beats, production, all TOP TIER.”
And though the album — which follows 2020’s Billboard-200 topping Music to Be Murdered By — has only been out for a few hours, listeners have already come together to elect a few songs as fan-favorites. There’s the project’s closer “Somebody Save Me,” featuring Jelly Roll, as well as previously released singles “Tobey” featuring Big Sean and BabyTron and “Houdini,” but the most beloved track appears to be the emotional “Temporary.”
Featuring old recordings of Em’s daughter Hailie Jade, who’s now 28, the song finds the hip-hop titan giving his kin something to remember him by once he’s died. “I wrote you this song/ To help you cope with life now that I’m gone … How should I start? Just wanna say look after Alaina, Stevie, and Uncle Nate/ And sweetie, be strong,” he raps, referencing his two adopted children, 31-year-old Alaina and 22-year-old Stevie, as well as his half-brother Nathan.
Suffice to say, fans are pretty much a bucket of tears. “Me hearing ‘Temporary’ and ‘Somebody Save Me’ after laughing and vibing for 45 minutes,” one listener wrote on X, sharing a gif of Matthew McConaughey sobbing in Interstellar.
Eminem has never been one to shy away from the brutalities of his family life. So much so, that the financial battles, relationship break-downs, heartbreaking losses, substance abuse, and the estrangements from his children that he endured throughout his life often became the subjects of his mesmerizing rap songs. And this week, following the release of his latest masterpiece, The Death of Slim Shady, the best-selling artist has had praise heaped upon him for hashing out the passionate yet often heartbreaking, close-knit relationship with his eldest daughter Hailie Mathers in one of the album’s most emotional tracks.
Recognized by the public as the apple of the musician’s eye for countless years, Hailie’s name has been dropped in a handful of tracks. Not only has the rapper – real name Marshall Bruce Mathers III – lifted the lid on his prior difficulties in paying for his parenting duties as a young father, having raised his daughter in an impoverished area of Missouri, but he’s also opened up on his adoration for his recently-married 28-year-old.
Titled ‘Temporary’, one of his newly-released songs features the voice of Eminem’s now podcaster/social media influencer daughter – whom he shares with long-term ex Kimberly Anne “Kim” Scott. It is believed the song is a love letter from the 51-year-old to his former little girl, written as though he has passed away. Whilst the intro includes lines spoken and sung by Hailie herself, the rapper can later be heard telling listeners: “Yeah, so Hailie Jade, I wrote you this song / To help you cope with life now that I’m gone / How should I start? Just wanna say / Look after Alaina, Stevie, and Uncle Nate.”
Eminem continues: “And, sweetie, be strong; I know I was your rock, and I still am / Saying goodbye is just not ever easy / Why you crying? Just stop Hailie, baby, dry your eyes, this is not forever.” As such, a handful of the rapper’s fans have been left utterly heartbroken by the tear-jerking address, with many claiming this particular track left them sobbing.
“Was not expecting another song to Hailie but ‘Temporary’ hits hard. @Eminem absolutely amazing song,” one gushed on social media. “Eminem’s temporary track should have come with a warning,” another continued. “Crying to Eminem’s new album was not something I thought I’d do today but holy f**k. Was vibing to the music until ‘Temporary’ came on and I just started crying holy f**k. Such a beautiful song,” a third went on. Another added: “Eminem’s track ‘Temporary’ is actually a tear-jerker man.” “Why did you do this, Eminem? You got me crying like a baby – Temporary is so beautiful…” another admitted.
