Actors Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have listed their Irvington estate for sale for $12 million. The couple’s home, known as Longmeadow, is situated about 25 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. The 12-acre Fargo Lane property features a more than 11,000-square-foot Georgian-style home, built in 1929. There are eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, two half-bathrooms, a 21-foot heated indoor pool, tennis court, cabana, and guest cottage, according to the listing. There’s also a study with a two-story library and a fireplace.
The property is located in the village’s exclusive Matthiessen Park area. The estate recently served as the venue for a private fundraiser for President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign in April. The first-floor loggia opens to a 100-foot outdoor stone terrace, perfectly positioned to capture the beauty of the land and water.
“Longmeadow is a spectacular property ‒ a true Hudson River estate,” said David Turner of Compass, who has the listing. “The owner has done a masterful job in renovating the house in a cool, comfortable, and modern aesthetic that preserves its original grandeur and integrity.” Turner’s career as a real estate broker has also included the listing and sale of Holly Hill, Briarcliff Manor’s 65-acre Brooke Astor estate, as well as the $33 million sale of Hudson Pines, the late David Rockefeller’s 75-acre Sleepy Hollow estate in the Pocantico Hills hamlet, in 2018.
The Longmeadow property now on the market is in the Irvington school district. Westchester is prized for its school districts, several of which are ranked among the nation’s best. The Journal News reported in 2019 that Longmeadow had been owned by the late Leonard Yablon, the former Forbes Inc. chief executive, who died in 2016 at 87. The home sold for $4.5 million in 2019, and Casa Zeta LLC, a corporation associated with Zeta-Jones, was listed as one of the buyers of the estate.
Irvington, a southern Westchester village perched on the Hudson River with a Metro-North commuter train station, has long been a home to celebrities as well as those in the financial industry’s upper reaches.
Hollywood royalty Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are parting ways with their 12-acre Westchester County estate, now on the market for $12 million. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, the famous couple, who have been married for over 20 years, keep their real estate portfolios separate; the 1920s-built Colonial Revival mansion, situated along the Irvington, New York riverfront, belongs to Zeta-Jones. The Wales-born Wednesday actor purchased the estate for $4.5 million in 2019 and is offloading it as she and Douglas recently became empty-nesters.
“When I purchased our Irvington home, I knew our family would share many happy times here, and we have!” Zeta-Jones said in a statement. “Now that both our son and daughter have left the nest, it seems like the right time to sell.”
The Oscar-winning duo recently hosted a campaign fundraiser for President Biden at the 11,653-square-foot house. The gated estate boasts a few other celebrity ties, having once been owned by Charles Lewis Tiffany, founder of the jewelry company Tiffany & Co.
Irvington is located 20 miles north of Manhattan. The four-level house contains eight ensuite bedrooms and 12 bathrooms in total. After purchasing, Zeta-Jones and Douglas opted for an extensive renovation of the home’s interiors, which now reflect a blend of original classical elements with a vibrant contemporary aesthetic. One of the standout spaces is a family room with a fireplace and river views, leading to a double-height library with floor-to-ceiling shelving and a spiral staircase. All walls in both rooms are paneled with oak.
The kitchen floor is laid with ebony-colored wood planks, offsetting the white countertops and gold hardware. The primary suite includes an adjacent lounge area, a spa bathroom with a fireplace, and a boutique-style dressing room with jet-black cabinetry.
Earlier this month, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas listed their riverfront mansion in the suburban village of Irvington in Westchester County, N.Y. for sale for an asking price of $12 million. Located north of New York City and facing the Hudson River, the more than 11,000-square-foot house stands four stories tall and contains eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, according to real estate records obtained by E! News. And the luxurious space has plenty of amenities for the health-minded, including rec rooms, a gym, and a heated indoor pool.
Zeta-Jones—who has been married to Douglas since 2000—bought the 100-year-old property in 2019 for $4.5 million and renovated it that year. “When I purchased our Irvington home, I knew our family would share many happy times here, and we have,” the Chicago actress told The Wall Street Journal in a statement published June 17. “Now that both our son and daughter have left the nest it seems like the right time to sell.” And with their kids Dylan, 23, and daughter Carys, 21, all grown up, Zeta-Jones and Douglas are planning to spread their wings as well and travel abroad.
The Wednesday actress added in her statement, “Michael and I plan to spend more time in Bermuda and Europe.” Zeta-Jones, 54, and Douglas, 79, have owned property all over the world, including in Bermuda, the actress’ native Wales in the U.K., and Bedford, N.Y.—near Irvington—plus properties in California and on the Spanish island of Majorca.
Step inside the couple’s palatial N.Y. mansion, which sits on almost 12 acres in New York. The more than 11,000-square-foot home features several rooms with red walls, including a formal dining room. The mansion—which was renovated after the family purchased it in 2019—features a light and airy summer kitchen. The huge wardrobe is one of several in the almost 100-year-old home. Relax in front of the natural views of Irvington overlooking the Hudson River. Relax in front of the fireplace. With eight bedrooms in total, there’s plenty of space to host overnight guests. Enjoy a leisurely swim inside the home before getting in a workout in the gym and rec rooms.
