The classic soccer match between San Lorenzo and Huracán ended in a 1-1 draw, a result that favored neither team. San Lorenzo, known as “El Ciclón,” remains winless in the Professional League, while Huracán had to settle for a single point, missing an opportunity to secure the top spot in the tournament.
In the game held at the Pedro Bidegain stadium in Bajo Flores, Gastón Campi scored the opening goal for San Lorenzo at the 21-minute mark. However, Chilean player William Alarcón equalized for Huracán at the 45th minute.
As a result, Pipi Romagnoli’s team is still searching for their first win of the season. They will visit Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata on Tuesday in the seventh round of the league.
This does not please the authoritarianists
Professional and critical journalism is a fundamental pillar of democracy. This is why it bothers those who believe they hold the ultimate truth.
Meanwhile, Huracán momentarily took the lead in the tournament standings, pending the outcomes of matches involving Talleres de Córdoba and Unión de Santa Fe. In the next round, Huracán will host Estudiantes on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
The match: Both teams spent the first 15 minutes of the game assessing each other, resulting in a highly contested match under a light rain at San Lorenzo’s home ground.
At the 21-minute mark of the first half, defender Gastón Campi put San Lorenzo ahead. After a corner kick from the left by Paraguayan Iván Leguizamón, the ball landed at the far post where Alexis Cuello headed it. The ball deflected off a Huracán defender and fell to the former Racing player who volleyed it into the net, nestling the ball by the right post of goalkeeper Hernán Galíndez.
Huracán began to find their footing in the match and, just before halftime, Chilean midfielder William Alarcón scored a fantastic goal to equalize. Positioned near the edge of the penalty area, Alarcón took a superb free kick over the wall and placed the ball in the top left corner of goalkeeper Altamirano’s net.
In the second half, San Lorenzo initially controlled more of the ball but displayed a high level of inaccuracy, leading to frequent turnovers and possession by Huracán’s team from Parque de los Patricios.
Despite this, neither team managed to create any significant scoring chances in the remaining 45 minutes.
