Throughout his career, Diego Topa has skillfully won the hearts of his audience, and not just children. From the beginning of his journey in the entertainment world, Topa showcased his inherent charm and charisma, making him first a teenage star and later a beloved children’s entertainer. But his appeal isn’t limited to just the younger demographic; adults also find themselves captivated by his positive influence. This is evident in every new theatrical show he brings to the stage during winter vacations, consistently filling the dual daily performances at Teatro El Nacional (Av. Corrientes 960, CABA) for several years now. Audiences of all ages can be seen dancing, enjoying, singing, and being amazed by “Es Tiempo de Jugar,” a show that, besides relying on the main star’s charm, boasts an impressive visual and auditory production. From attractive and modern costumes designed by Jorge López to the striking lighting by Teo del Mastro, every element is meticulously planned under the direction of Emiliano Dionisi.
Choreographies by Gustavo Carrizo are simple enough for children to mimic (which they eagerly do) yet effective enough to engage audiences of all ages. This simplicity has proven to be a brilliant decision.
Critics of Authoritarianism
The practice of professional and critical journalism is a cornerstone of democracy, which is why it irritates those who believe they possess the absolute truth.
The story in the show is engaging, well-executed, and supported by stunning visuals and impressive puppet and black theater effects. The plot involves Topa traveling back in time, encountering dinosaurs, visiting the 1970s for a mini-concert featuring hits from Palito Ortega and Rafaella Carrá (a delightful nod to grandparents), and journeying to the future to marvel at technological advances. Throughout the hour-long show, Topa is the sole singer, but he is excellently supported by Andrea Lovera and Ramiro Delgado, as well as a team of four tireless dancers.
The performance, including moments of genuine stand-up when Diego humorously admits he needs a rest after performing the second show of the day, or joyfully greets someone familiar in the audience, reveals his masterful command of the show. Designed with love and responsibility for the entire family, the impeccable show culminates with everyone, both on stage and in the audience, singing hits like “Me Muevo Para Aquí” and “Sé Como Tú Quieras Ser,” leaving everyone on their feet and happy.
It’s no surprise that after the second show’s conclusion, Topa exits the theater through a passage that leads directly to a car waiting to whisk him away to rest. Alongside the barriers, families applaud, greet him, and snap photos, reminiscing about when Susana Giménez experienced similar affection during her “Sugar” days. Topa is indeed an idol. There’s still a week left to enjoy his performance. Find more information about tickets here.
