Early on Sunday, another accident linked to late-night revelers occurred, this time in San Telmo. Fortunately, it resulted in only five minor injuries, considering the severe nature of the impact, it could have been much worse.
The incident took place at around 7 AM at the intersection of Paseo Colón and San Juan. A 23-year-old driving a Peugeot 207 mistakenly entered the wrong lane, traveling against traffic on the Metrobus route. The vehicle collided with a light pole before crashing into the fence at a bus stop where several people were waiting, along with others crossing the street.
Security cameras in the area captured the scene, showing the car driving the wrong way from Avenida San Juan until it hit the Metrobus platform. The force of the collision caused injuries to bystanders, but fortunately, all of them suffered only minor injuries.
The images shared by the media depict the Peugeot 207 slamming into the Metrobus barriers, which ultimately helped prevent more serious injuries among those present.
Six ambulances from the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME), along with officers from the local police station and city firefighters, responded to the scene to assist the injured. They were taken to Pena, Argerich, and Ramos MejÃa hospitals. Meanwhile, the driver and his 19-year-old female passenger were taken to Ramos MejÃa Hospital for questioning.
The results of alcohol and drug tests have not yet been released, but authorities found containers of alcoholic and energy drinks in the vehicle. Reports indicate that three men and two women were in the car at the time, and the driver is facing charges for causing injuries.
