Jaime Camil recently revealed that Fátima and Vetzaida were eliminated from La Academia. Their fellow contestants bid them farewell with the song “The Flame” by Cheap Trick.
The first concert of La Academia 2024 concluded the voting process, determining which 18 contestants would continue pursuing their dreams. Fátima, Cristian, Thania, and Vetzaida were the participants with the lowest votes during this initial event.
All contestants gathered for a final performance to sing the La Academia anthem together. Julio Ávila and Vetzaida Salazar were the tenth duo to perform that night, delivering a live rendition of “Te besé” by Ragazzi, which brought a “golden closure” to the presentations.
Next to take the stage were Eugenio Salco and Mike León, who harmonized on David Bisbal’s “24 Horas.” Following them, Fátima Cuevas and Thania Pasión showcased their skills with a rendition of Jenny Rivera’s hit “Inolvidable.” Chikis noted that he sensed nerves from the participants. As the composer, Espinoza praised their interpretation, but he believed their nerves affected their performance.
Critic Lola described their performance as a “disaster,” claiming it was chaotic and lacked timing. Gavito added that there was no need for the level of pressure they showed, suggesting they strained their voices.
The next pair to perform, Flor and Ángel, sang “Te lo agradezco.” Gavito mentioned that, while their vocals left much to be desired, their stage presence earned them applause. Lolita criticized their outfits and pointed out the lack of enthusiasm in their singing. However, Espinoza remarked that they performed well, indicating their desire to shine on the La Academia stage, and Chikis expressed his enjoyment of their interpretation.
Cristian Salguero and Yesenia Guadalupe performed “Ya lo sé que tú te vas,” a song popularized by Juan Gabriel. Gavito commented that the performance felt like a clash, with Yesi attempting to save the song through vibrato while Cristian seemed to lose the essence of the track. Lola noted that Cristian strained his voice, suggesting it could jeopardize his vocal health. Espinoza acknowledged the difficulty of emulating Juan Gabriel’s style and preferred Yesi’s performance.
The fifth duo, Edith and Caro Heredia, captivated the audience with “Lo que no tenías conmigo.” Chikis praised their voices, stating they could be the best singers of the night. Paz appreciated their performance but criticized the staging, which he felt detracted from their singing. Lola remarked on their good energy, claiming they “saved the night.” However, Gavito suggested they still need to refine their vocals.
Mar Lara and Mario Girón took the stage next, performing “Recuérdame,” known through Natalia Jiménez and Marc Anthony. Gavito pointed out that the song’s introduction felt chaotic and lacked coherence. Lola told Mar that her performance was a poor impression of Natalia Jiménez due to weak diction and personality. Mario, meanwhile, appeared disconnected during the dance. Espinoza praised their vocal color, expressing hope that their future performances would improve.
