Kim Cattrall has firmly denied rumors suggesting she would return to the “Sex and the City” franchise. The 67-year-old actress became a global sensation for her role as publicist Samantha Jones in the beloved series. She briefly reprised her role in the second season of the sequel, “And Just Like That,” but has since refuted any claims about returning for a third season. In response to a fan’s inquiry on Instagram about her interest in rejoining the series, she simply stated, “Aw, you’re very kind, but no.”
Back in 2022, Cattrall shared her thoughts with Variety, expressing her dissatisfaction with how her character was portrayed in the screenplay for the never-produced third “Sex and the City” movie. She described the representation as “devastating” and discussed the challenges of portraying a character for decades.
Cattrall reflected on the show’s conclusion, stating, “Everything has to grow or die. When the series ended, I thought, ‘How smart, we won’t repeat ourselves.’ Then came the movie to tie up loose ends. And then another movie. And then yet another movie?”
She had previously indicated she would not return to “And Just Like That,” marking her last appearance in the franchise with the 2010 film “Sex and the City 2.”
During her time on the original series, Cattrall starred alongside Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes, and Kristin Davis as Charlotte York Goldenblatt for six successful seasons.
In the original show’s fourth season, Samantha settled down with the character Maria Reyes and famously revealed to her friends at dinner, “Yes, ladies, I’m gay.” Although her character was written off, she was not killed off, leaving room for speculation about a possible return.
