Bette Midler is urging Disney to expedite the production of ‘Hocus Pocus 3’ while the original cast is still around. The 78-year-old actress reprised her role as the witch Winifred "Winnie" Sanderson in the hit sequel to the fantasy comedy in 2022. She is eager to see the script soon because time is “running at full speed toward the finish line.”
During an appearance on Busy Philipps’ QVC+ show, ‘Busy This Week,’ Midler shared her thoughts. "I haven’t seen the script, but I’ve heard rumors. I think if they’re going to do it, they should, because time isn’t just marching—it’s heading towards the finish line. Catch us while we’re still breathing, I mean, come on!"
Interestingly, Midler revealed that she initially considered the original 1993 movie a "fiasco," which later transformed into a "cult classic." Just a month ago, she disclosed that there had been discussions about making a third installment of the beloved franchise.
In an interview on SiriusXM’s ‘The Jess Cagle Show,’ she mentioned, "Now they are talking about a third part, but very cautiously. They are definitely talking about it. The second one was a huge success."
Midler stars alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, who play the Sanderson sisters. She remarked that her character is probably the least like herself when compared to all the roles she has played over her more than fifty years in the industry.
The ‘Stepford Wives’ star described her alter ego, saying, "She is the closest thing to Shakespeare I will ever have. She belongs to the times of Shakespeare. She’s extremely comedic but possesses all the qualities that you expect from a great villain. She is ruthless, incredibly funny, has a ridiculous appearance, and is completely oblivious to it. It’s all lost on her."
Fans are eagerly waiting to see if Disney will take Midler’s advice and bring the Sanderson sisters back for another adventure.
