Lupita Nyong’o once had a fear of cats. The 41-year-old actress revealed that there was a time in her life when she couldn’t even be in the same room as a feline. However, she needed to confront this fear to successfully portray the character of Sam’s cat owner in the film A Quiet Place: Day One.
In an interview with ¡HOLA! magazine, she shared, "Before making this film, I was very afraid of them. I couldn’t be in the same room as a cat, so that clearly wasn’t going to work. But I went to therapy and gradually overcame my fear to the point where I could convincingly play the devoted cat owner that Sam is, hopefully."
Lupita also disclosed her recent move from New York to Los Angeles, expressing her happiness about reconnecting with nature in her new surroundings. She said, "I just moved from New York to Los Angeles, and now I have so much more peace than before. My quiet place is whenever I consciously take a digital pause to reconnect with myself, away from my phone and social media. I truly believe that taking time to hike and experience nature clears a lot of mental noise."
Additionally, Lupita reflected on her career a decade after winning an Oscar. She expressed excitement about continuing her work, saying, "I’m glad to still be working and that I still enjoy what I do. Every opportunity is exciting for me, and I hope it is for the audience as well."
