Kris Jenner was emotional as she shared with her family that she needs to undergo surgery to have her ovaries removed due to the discovery of a cyst and a “small tumor.” The 68-year-old matriarch of the Kardashian family was on vacation in Aspen, Colorado, with her daughters Kim Kardashian, 43, Khloé Kardashian, 40, and Kendall Jenner, 28, when she gathered them to deliver the news.
Through tears, Kris revealed in an episode of The Kardashians, “I wanted to tell you something because I haven’t said it yet, but… I went to the doctor, and they did a scan… They found… and this really gets to me, but… they found a cyst and a small tumor on my ovary. So, I went to the doctor, and Dr. A told me that I need to have my ovaries removed. I’m very excited about it because, as you know, they were really useful for you all. If I could get through hip replacement surgery, I can handle this. I’m not even worried about the anesthesia. I feel very safe with Dr. A; she’s the best doctor in the world. But I think about it, and I feel nervous. It’s also about aging, and it’s a sign that we are closing a chapter in our lives. It’s the silliest thing, but I love you all, daughters, and I just wanted you to know.”
Later in the episode, she spoke to the camera, expressing, “I’m excited because that’s where all my kids were conceived, and that’s where you all grew in my belly. It’s a very sacred place for me.”
Kris’s eldest daughter, Kourtney Kardashian, 45, her son Rob Kardashian, 37, and her youngest daughter, Kylie Jenner, 26, were not present for the announcement, but Kris informed Kourtney through a video call. During their conversation, Kris shared, “They are going to operate on me because I have a tumor on my ovary, so they will take it out. But it’s just, you know, the hardest part for me is thinking that it has to be removed, that it has to go.”
Kourtney empathized, saying, “I would feel the same way.”
Later in the episode, Kim admitted that she felt “very sad” for her mother. Speaking to the camera, she stated, “Having surgery to remove your ovaries is a very significant thing. I feel really sad for her, you know? I can’t even imagine being in that situation and feeling truly scared about going through that.”
Kourtney added, “I completely understand how my mom feels because I would feel the same way. It’s like your feminine power, and it doesn’t mean it takes away from who she is or what she has experienced, but I would feel nostalgic about what she has created.”
