Kamala Harris has accused Donald Trump of attempting to take the United States back to a time when many people lacked full freedoms.
The 59-year-old Vice President officially launched her presidential campaign on July 21, 2024, after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race. Harris has already secured enough delegates to become the Democratic candidate in the upcoming elections.
In a recent statement, she emphasized, "This election will present a clear choice between two different visions. Donald Trump wants to return our country to an era where many of us did not enjoy full freedoms or equal rights. I believe in a future that strengthens our democracy, protects reproductive rights, and ensures that everyone has the opportunity to succeed."
Harris has garnered support from prominent figures such as Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and President Biden himself, expressing her gratitude for their endorsements.
She remarked, "When I announced my campaign for the presidency, I stated my intention to earn this nomination. Tonight, I am proud to have gained the widespread support needed to become our party’s candidate. As a daughter of California, I am particularly proud that my home state’s delegation has helped elevate our campaign. I look forward to formally accepting the nomination soon. I am thankful to President Biden and all the members of the Democratic Party who have placed their trust in me, and I am eager to bring our message directly to the American people."
Harris, who previously served as the Attorney General of California, also outlined her goal of uniting the nation during her campaign.
She added, "In the coming months, I will travel across the country to speak with Americans about the stakes we face. I intend to unify our party, bring our nation together, and defeat Donald Trump in November."
