Isa Atehortúa, a model, former beauty queen, and current presenter for Canal RCN in Medellín, gained recognition in 2018 as a runner-up in Colombia’s National Beauty Contest. Since then, she has made appearances at various events and television productions, even becoming one of the prominent faces on Colombian news television. Additionally, she co-hosts a podcast called ¿Cómo es la vuelta?, alongside fellow presenter Andrea Jaramillo Char.
Atehortúa is quite active on social media, especially Instagram, where she shares glimpses of her daily life, promotes her work, and posts motivational content aimed at empowerment.
Recently, she drew attention on Instagram when she shared a video discussing her experience at Colombiamoda. Despite having a successful first day at the event, she expressed her discomfort with the second day. The reasons behind her reluctance to attend the event were not related to her professional obligations but rather the behavior of certain attendees.
In her posts, she showcased her outfit for Colombiamoda and mentioned the various places she visited. However, she also highlighted the negative aspects of such fashion gatherings. According to Atehortúa, she finds that many people attending these events adopt an air of superiority, often comparing themselves based on social media following or brand affiliations, which she finds off-putting.
She remarked, “It bothers me that at these events, many people arrive with a ‘You don’t know who I am’ attitude, looking down on everyone. They assume they are better solely because of their followers or their expensive possessions. Frankly, I don’t understand why they think that’s acceptable.”
On July 24, during the event, she encountered an incident that reinforced her views. While in the press area, another journalist needed to cross through a crowded area, but an attendee was uncooperative and rude, refusing to give her a moment to pass. Isa described how the head of press politely requested permission to step through, only to be met with a dismissive “no” from the woman occupying the space.
Despite the head of press explaining the need to cross, the attendee continued to be unhelpful and dismissive. Finally, after some insistence, the woman reluctantly allowed a tiny bit of space for the press officer to pass through, making it a very awkward situation.
Atehortúa, visibly frustrated, captured this incident as an example of the undesirable atmosphere that can pervade events like Colombiamoda, emphasizing that such behavior is what ultimately detracts from the experience.
