Former Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein has been hospitalized due to serious health issues, including COVID-19 and double pneumonia. The 72-year-old was transferred from the Rikers Island jail complex to the Bellevue Hospital Prison Ward in Manhattan, where he is receiving treatment for a range of medical conditions.
Weinstein’s representative, Craig Rothfeld, confirmed that he is dealing with multiple health problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, and fluid accumulation on his heart and lungs. Rothfeld stated that Weinstein tested positive for COVID-19 and is suffering from double pneumonia, which has further complicated his health situation.
This hospitalization comes as Weinstein awaits retrial on rape charges in New York. His previous conviction was overturned by a state appellate court in April, which found that the trial judge had made errors that prejudiced his case. The court ruled that the judge improperly allowed testimony from women whose allegations were not part of the case, and also allowed prosecutors to cross-examine Weinstein about uncharged allegations if he chose to testify.

One of the accusers, Mimi Haley, has indicated that she is still considering her options, while Jessica Mann, another accuser, is reportedly prepared to testify.
