The day of the baby shower was marked by unexpected weather challenges, as Jamie revealed they were under a tornado warning due to tropical storm Debby. Despite the wild weather, she was determined to make the celebration happen. “It’s been a wild day here today! We’ve been in the path of tropical storm Debby and under tornado warning for part of the day, but luckily we were still able to make the baby sprinkle work for these twinnies!” she shared with PEOPLE.
Jamie reflected on the significance of this being her last pregnancy and baby shower, stating, “This is my last pregnancy and my last baby shower, and it really SHOWERED here for these sweet twin boys! Since it’s my last, it seems fitting we’d celebrate with a BANG! It’s been thundering and lightning all day!” The theme of the shower was hot air balloons, which added a whimsical touch to the festivities. Jamie described the day as “so amazing” and cherished the time spent with her family.
However, the day also brought back memories of her firstborn son, Johnathan, whom she lost during pregnancy. “As I watched my daughter and son dance around and try to sneak the desserts, I couldn’t help but wonder what it’d be like if he were here with us,” she said. This poignant moment reminded her of the journey she has been on to reach this point. Jamie expressed her gratitude for a healthy pregnancy, especially after facing challenges in conceiving. “We were trying to conceive for a little over three years before we got this miraculous pregnancy – spontaneous identical twin boys,” she shared. “For three years, I would literally pray for a healthy pregnancy, and I’d tell God if I got to choose, I’d love identical twins!”
Celebrating the twins felt like a dream come true for Jamie. “Being here today celebrating these boys who are quite literally an answered prayer brings tears of joy to my eyes!” she said. She firmly believes that her late son had a hand in bringing the twins into their lives. “There’s no doubt in my mind their big brother in heaven had a hand in sending them down to earth for us and keeping them safe,” she added.
The baby sprinkle took place at Gala Banquets and Events in Bradenton, Florida, which Jamie described as the perfect venue for the celebration. “Now we just need to finish their nursery and figure out what we are going to name these precious babies!” she exclaimed, noting that she and her husband, Doug Hehner, were still in the process of agreeing on names.
In April, Jamie announced the exciting news of expecting twin boys on their YouTube channel. “We’ve been celebrating every milestone of this pregnancy! It’s been so fun documenting every moment on our YouTube page, knowing one day we can watch it back and relive the pure joy we’ve been feeling,” she said. The couple was thrilled to learn the gender of their babies, with Jamie sharing, “And last weekend on April 20, we found out that they’re both BOYS!”
