Peacock is set to revolutionize the viewing experience for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, positioning itself as the most comprehensive streaming destination for the event. With over 5,000 hours of live coverage, including all 329 medal events, Peacock is introducing innovative interactive features that will enhance how fans engage with the Games.
At the recent One24 technology conference, Peacock unveiled its extensive Olympics hub, which will include curated sections for live and upcoming events, dedicated spaces for nearly 40 sports, medal standings, and an interactive schedule. Kelly Campbell, President of Peacock and Direct-to-Consumer at NBCUniversal, emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating that the Paris Olympics will mark a major milestone for Peacock’s leadership in live streaming.
Among the standout features is Peacock Live Actions, an interactive tool that allows fans to tailor their viewing experience during live and primetime coverage. This feature will enable viewers to follow specific events of interest rather than sticking with the general coverage. For instance, during the newly announced live whip-around show, Gold Zone, fans can choose to continue watching a particular event instead of the broader coverage. Additionally, viewers can add upcoming events to their “My Stuff” list for later viewing.
Another groundbreaking feature is Peacock Discovery Multiview, which offers an enhanced four-view experience. This allows users to navigate multiple live events simultaneously, with real-time descriptions from NBCU’s Olympic experts. This feature will highlight critical moments, such as medal events or first-time Olympians, ensuring fans stay informed about what’s at stake. A traditional Multiview option will also be available for sports like soccer, track and field, and wrestling, allowing fans to switch audio and dive deeper into the action.
Peacock’s Olympics hub is designed to cater to both avid and casual fans, providing an intuitive and easy-to-navigate platform. Key features include a spotlight on major live events, a “Browse by Sport” rail for quick access to favorite competitions, and a “Search by Star Athlete” option to find events featuring specific athletes. Fans can also utilize an enhanced interactive schedule to plan their viewing, track medal standings, and access key moments from various sports.
As the most comprehensive Olympics streaming destination in U.S. media history, Peacock will offer live coverage of all events, NBC programming, replays, and clips. The Paris 2024 Games will take place against the stunning backdrop of one of the world’s most beautiful cities, marking the third time Paris has hosted the Olympics.
NBCUniversal has confirmed that NBC and Peacock will be the primary platforms for coverage of the Paris Olympic Games, scheduled for July 26 to August 11. The Opening Ceremony will be broadcast live on July 26, with additional coverage provided by Telemundo in Spanish. NBCUniversal holds the U.S. media rights to the Olympic Games through 2032, covering future events in Milan Cortina, Los Angeles, and Brisbane.
As the Paris Olympics approach, Peacock’s innovative features and comprehensive coverage are set to enhance the viewing experience for fans across the UK and beyond, solidifying its position in the competitive landscape of TV streaming.
