Kristoffer Borgli, known for his recent hit “Dream Scenario,” is set to collaborate once again with A24 for his upcoming film titled “The Drama.” Excitingly, sources indicate that the film may feature two of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, in leading roles.
Borgli will not only direct the film but also penned the script himself. Production is slated to kick off this fall, although specific details about the project remain largely undisclosed. However, whispers suggest that the narrative revolves around a romance that takes an unexpected twist just before a couple’s significant day.
Borgli has been making waves in the film industry, particularly after the success of “Dream Scenario,” which has been hailed as his best work to date. His previous film, “Sick of Myself,” premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, showcasing his potential as a filmmaker. In addition to “The Drama,” Borgli is also attached to direct the highly anticipated HBO adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ “The Shards,” although a production date for that project has yet to be announced.
The collaboration between Borgli and A24 is not new; the studio has previously worked with Borgli on successful projects. The production company is known for its association with critically acclaimed films such as “Hereditary” and “Midsommar.” The team behind “The Drama” includes producers Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, and Tyler Campellone, all of whom are part of the Square Peg banner.
Following the success of “Dream Scenario,” A24 was eager to work with Borgli again. The project gained significant traction after Zendaya expressed a strong interest in participating. Robert Pattinson later joined the conversation, and while contracts are still being finalized, “The Drama” has quickly become a top priority for the studio.
Zendaya has had a remarkable year, starting with her role in “Dune: Part Two,” which grossed over $700 million worldwide. She also starred in the tennis drama “Challengers,” which received positive reviews and earned $94 million globally, including $50 million domestically. Fans are also looking forward to her return in the Emmy-winning series “Euphoria,” which is set to begin filming in early 2025.
On the other hand, Robert Pattinson, known for his role in “The Batman,” is gearing up for his next project, “Mickey 17,” directed by Bong Joon Ho. He is also set to begin production on Lynne Ramsay’s “Die, My Love.”
Both actors are represented by prominent agencies, with Zendaya being repped by CAA, Monster Talent Management, and Andre Des Rochers at Granderson Des Rochers. Pattinson is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment, WME, Curtis Brown, and Sloane, Offer, Weber, and Dern. Borgli is represented by UTA, while Square Peg is repped by WME.
As anticipation builds for “The Drama,” fans of both Zendaya and Pattinson are eager to see how this collaboration unfolds. With Borgli at the helm and a compelling storyline hinted at, the film promises to be an exciting addition to A24’s impressive lineup.
