In a recent episode of “The Kardashians,” Kim Kardashian opened up about the challenges of balancing her demanding career and her responsibilities as a single mother to four children. The SKIMS founder, who shares North, 10, Saint, 8, Chicago, 6, and Psalm, 5, with ex-husband Kanye West, revealed a particularly stressful moment that led her to hide in a bathroom to escape the chaos.
During the episode, Kardashian, 43, recounted a day when she was on her way to jury duty and had a Zoom interview scheduled at home. Her children, unaware of the importance of her commitments, began banging on the door and screaming, forcing her to lock herself in the bathroom. “Oh my God. No, what I wanted to say was that I had a Zoom interview at the house with all my kids there banging on the door, just screaming,” she shared. “And I was literally hiding in a bathroom with the door locked. And I was just like, ‘I can’t believe this.’ I mean, I can believe it.”
The reality star and business mogul admitted that she was at her wit’s end, feeling overwhelmed by the constant demands of her children. “I’m open to anything at this point because I can’t live like this. I ran out of patience and that’s what my superpower was, being calm and patient,” she added.
In a confessional, Kardashian expressed her desire to be more strict with her children, similar to her sister Khloé Kardashian. “Sometimes it gets just a little intense,” she said. “I want to be more strict like Khloé but I don’t know why I have a hard time just saying, ‘No is no.’ I think I also don’t want to deal with the whining and the tears of not getting their way.”
Kardashian acknowledged that her children know how to manipulate her, often using tears to get what they want. “They know when to con me and when to throw the little, you know, start with the tears so that I’m like, ‘Stop, stop. Sure. Take your iPad, you know, just stop,'” she revealed. “I just have to be like, ‘I don’t care if you’re gonna throw a tantrum in front of everyone. The answer is no.'”
Despite the challenges, Kardashian emphasized that she is always there for her children, even though parenting can take an emotional toll on her. “Managing four kids in a household when they’re like, not getting along and they all want different things. And I’m only one person,” she shared. “This always shuts them up. I always say, ‘Okay guys, do you want me to just cut myself in half or in fours and a part will go with you, a part would go with you,’ and they look at me like, ‘No, don’t ever do that!'”
Kardashian’s candidness about her struggles as a single mother has resonated with many viewers, who find her experiences relatable. In a previous interview with Jay Shetty, she admitted that there are nights when she cries herself to sleep due to the overwhelming nature of parenting four children alone. “There are nights I cry myself to sleep. Like, holy sh*t, this f*cking tornado in my house. Like, what just happened? … With all the moods and the personalities and sometimes they’re fighting, and you know, there’s no one there. Like, it’s [just] me to play good police officer and bad cop,” she said.
Kardashian’s honesty about the difficulties of motherhood, combined with her high-profile career, has made her a relatable figure for many parents. Her willingness to share her struggles and seek advice from others highlights the universal challenges of balancing work and family life.
As new episodes of “The Kardashians” continue to air, viewers can expect more insights into Kardashian’s life as she navigates the complexities of being a single mother and a successful businesswoman. The show airs Thursdays at 12 a.m. ET on Hulu.
