Lit has found a unique way to express their gratitude to Kelly Clarkson for her covers. The pop-punk band recently shared their rendition of Clarkson’s 2004 hit “Breakaway” as a thank you for her multiple performances of their song “My Own Worst Enemy” on her show’s Kellyoke segment.
In an Instagram post, Lit explained their motivation behind the cover. “Kelly Clarkson has covered ‘My Own Worst Enemy’ on multiple occasions, so we decided to do something fun and rock one of her big smash hits,” they wrote. They also noted that “Breakaway” was originally penned by Avril Lavigne. The band recorded their version while on tour, utilizing various locations like tour buses and airstream trailers. They collaborated with @imtaylorcarroll, who co-produced the track. “Hope y’all dig it as much as we do! Add it to your summer playlists!! Love yall,” they added.
Fans can now enjoy Lit’s cover of “Breakaway” alongside Kelly Clarkson’s rendition of “My Own Worst Enemy,” creating a delightful musical exchange between the two artists.
