Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose Finalize Divorce Nearly 3 Months Later

Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose have officially finalized their divorce nearly three months after their separation. The couple’s marriage, which lasted just seven months, came to an end following a series of tumultuous events and allegations exchanged between the two.

Cyrus’s legal representatives, Rose Palermo and Jason Talley, confirmed the divorce in a statement, revealing that a settlement agreement was reached during mediation. The court declared the couple divorced on August 5, 2024. In the statement, Cyrus expressed relief at the conclusion of what he described as a “nightmare.”

“I’m just very relieved and giving thanks today to breathe a sigh of relief,” Cyrus stated. He further elaborated on the situation, calling it “the most crazy insane scam” he had ever encountered. He lamented the unfortunate circumstances that led to the dissolution of their marriage, emphasizing that it was a matter of the heart and that “love is blind.”

Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Hodges, had legally changed her last name to “Cyrus” shortly before the mediation. Cyrus’s legal team interpreted this change as evidence that Firerose’s primary motivation for marrying him was to gain his last name. They claimed that this action validated Cyrus’s assertion regarding her intentions.

The couple’s relationship began in 2010 when they met on the set of “Hannah Montana.” They later became musical collaborators and got engaged in August 2022. However, the marriage quickly soured, leading Cyrus to file for divorce on May 22, 2024, citing “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct.” He also noted that the “consent to marriage was obtained by fraud.”

Following the divorce filing, Firerose accused Cyrus of domestic abuse, while he countered with claims that she was the abuser in their relationship. The public nature of their split included a judge ruling that Firerose had “no legitimate reason” to access Cyrus’s credit cards after he alleged that she had spent over $96,000 of his money after the divorce was filed.

Cyrus, 62, and Firerose, 36, were married on October 10, 2023, in Franklin, Tennessee. Cyrus has been married twice before, first to Cindy Smith from 1986 to 1991 and then to Tish Cyrus from 1993 until their separation in 2022. He shares three children with Tish: Miley, Braison, and Noah, and he also adopted Tish’s two eldest children.

In the divorce settlement, Firerose walked away with no financial compensation. A source close to her indicated that she chose not to fight for money to expedite the end of the volatile relationship. Cyrus, on the other hand, retained all his assets, including his vehicles, horses, and royalties from his musical compositions.

The couple’s public disputes included allegations of verbal and emotional abuse. Audio recordings surfaced in which Cyrus was heard belittling Firerose during an argument, which he later admitted was a result of his frustration with her. He claimed that as time went on, he began to realize that something was wrong in their relationship.

Cyrus expressed that he felt deceived by Firerose, stating that he had no idea about her past, including her previous marriage and legal troubles. He accused her of attempting to take over his career and usurp the Cyrus name for her own gain.

Firerose’s legal team countered that she had evidence to support her claims and that the narrative being spun by Cyrus was damaging to her reputation. They indicated that she was more focused on ending the smear campaign against her than on financial gain from the divorce.

As the divorce proceedings unfolded, Firerose was preparing for a double mastectomy after testing positive for the BRCA gene, which increases the risk of certain cancers. This surgery was initially scheduled shortly before Cyrus filed for divorce, and he had even subpoenaed her medical records, questioning her diagnosis.

The couple’s settlement stipulated that both parties would retain their individual possessions and that neither would pay alimony or spousal support. They were also deemed responsible for their own debts.

The divorce of Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose has been marked by a series of dramatic allegations and public disputes, culminating in a settlement that allows both to move on from their brief and tumultuous marriage. As they each look to the future, the focus now shifts to their individual paths and the lessons learned from their experiences.
