Javaughn Young-White, the ex-partner of singer Kehlani, has made serious allegations against her, claiming that her involvement with a cult is jeopardizing the well-being of their five-year-old daughter, Adeya. In a recent court filing, Young-White is seeking full custody of Adeya, citing concerns that Kehlani’s alleged cult involvement is influencing her parenting decisions.
Young-White and Kehlani were in a relationship from 2018 to 2019, and their daughter was born through a home birth, which Young-White describes as being orchestrated by the cult. He claims that because Adeya was not born in a conventional hospital setting, his name does not appear on her birth certificate. Young-White has reportedly been trying for five years to have his name added to the document but has faced numerous obstacles, including Kehlani’s alleged refusal to provide their daughter’s social security number.
In his court documents, Young-White expresses frustration that he feels sidelined in the parenting process. He states, “As a father, everyone else has a bigger say-so when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter than I do.” He alleges that Kehlani’s involvement with the cult has led to her making decisions about their daughter’s care without his input.
Young-White’s filing includes alarming claims about the cult’s influence over Kehlani. He alleges that the cult leader has convinced her that he poses a danger to their daughter, leading to months of estrangement from Adeya. He claims that Kehlani has left their daughter in the care of cult members, including the leader, during her tours. Young-White describes a troubling incident where he was physically restrained and threatened by cult members when he attempted to retrieve Adeya on her birthday in 2023.
The allegations extend to disturbing practices allegedly conducted by the cult leader, who Young-White claims has a history of sexual assault accusations. He asserts that the leader performs “religious ceremonies” on Adeya in private, with no one else allowed in the room. Young-White’s concerns are compounded by claims that cult members, including one who reportedly uses psychedelic drugs, have been involved in bathing Adeya.
In addition to seeking full custody, Young-White is requesting child support from Kehlani, citing her higher income. He has also asked the court to order a psychological evaluation of Kehlani to determine if she has a bipolar disorder, expressing concern for the environment in which their daughter is being raised.
Young-White emphasizes that he is not trying to disparage Kehlani but is genuinely worried about the living conditions Adeya is exposed to. He states, “The environment that she has created for herself is not the type of environment that a child should be living in.” He appeals to the court for intervention, stating that without it, he fears he will continue to be alienated from his daughter.
As of now, Kehlani has not publicly responded to the allegations or the custody request. The situation has garnered significant media attention, with many following the developments closely. Young-White’s claims raise serious questions about the influence of external groups on parenting and the potential risks involved in such situations.
The court proceedings are ongoing, and both parties are expected to present their cases in the coming weeks. The outcome will likely have a profound impact on the future of their daughter and the dynamics of their co-parenting relationship.
