Actor Mike Heslin, known for his roles in Taylor Sheridan’s action-drama “Lioness” and the Lifetime movie “The Holiday Proposal Plan,” has tragically passed away at the age of 30. The heartbreaking news was shared by his husband, Scotty Dynamo, whose real name is Nicolas James Wilson, on Instagram. Heslin died on July 2nd following an unexpected cardiac event after a week-long battle in the hospital.
“Michael was young, in perfect health, and the doctors have no explanation for what happened,” Dynamo wrote in his emotional post. Heslin’s sudden death has left a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. Dynamo described his late husband as “brilliant, selfless, talented, and a real-life guardian angel.” He recounted how Heslin had supported him through multiple rounds of cancer, always being the first person to share in others’ joys and offer a shoulder to lean on during tough times.
Heslin’s acting career included notable roles such as Polo in two episodes of “Lioness” Season 1, where he starred alongside Zoe Saldana and Nicole Kidman. He also appeared in “The Holiday Proposal Plan,” “Younger,” “The Influencers,” “7 Deadly Sins,” and “You Are Never Alone.” His talent and charisma left a lasting impression on both his colleagues and audiences.
Dynamo shared several cherished photos of their time together, including moments from their wedding day in November of the previous year. The couple had been in the early stages of starting a family, often discussing their favorite baby names. “You always told me that you felt like you were meant to be a dad, and I couldn’t agree more. You would be the world’s most perfect father,” Dynamo wrote. He expressed his intention to name his future son after Heslin, hoping to raise him to be at least half the man Heslin was.
In his tribute, Dynamo highlighted Heslin’s generosity and selflessness, noting that through his wish to be an organ donor, he had given the gift of life to four different families. “We are three weeks away from your birthday and four months shy of our one-year wedding anniversary, but I know that you are in a better place and that heaven has gained another angel,” Dynamo concluded.
Heslin’s passing has left a profound impact on those who knew him. Dynamo’s heartfelt words captured the essence of Heslin’s character and the deep love they shared. “Michael, meeting you was the best thing to ever happen to me. You are my world. You are everything to me. When I felt you take your last breath, my heart shattered into a million pieces. If I had the power to trade places with you, I would do it in an instant. But I will take it one day at a time like you always told me to, and live every day in your honor,” Dynamo wrote.
Heslin’s contributions to the entertainment industry were significant. In addition to his roles in “Lioness” and “The Holiday Proposal Plan,” he created and starred in the 2020 mockumentary “The Influencers,” which was nominated for a Queerty award and streamed on Prime Video. He also appeared in the Christmas movie “The Holiday Proposal Plan” on Lifetime, the Noggin series “In Their Shoes: A Journey Into Homelessness,” and the TV Land series “Younger.” His short film “Happy Halloween” won several awards at horror festivals, including best first-time director.
Born in California, Heslin earned a BFA in Directing from the Boston Conservatory. His passion for acting and directing was evident in his work, and he was well-respected by his peers. His sudden passing has left a void in the industry and in the hearts of those who knew him.
Dynamo also shared a link to a GoFundMe campaign in his Instagram Story, which will be used to cover funeral and hospital costs and to provide support to Nic and the Heslin family during this difficult time. The outpouring of love and support from fans and friends has been a testament to the impact Heslin had on those around him.
As the entertainment industry mourns the loss of a talented actor, Heslin’s legacy will live on through his work and the memories he created with those who loved him. His kindness, generosity, and talent will not be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Mike Heslin. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who knew and loved you.
