After Biden’s resignation, Milei’s government won’t “interfere” in U.S. elections.

The Argentine government has expressed a desire to stay clear of the internal politics of the United States, especially in light of the presidential elections scheduled for November 5. This was confirmed by official sources following the recent announcement by Democratic candidate and current President Joe Biden that he would be stepping down from the race.

Manuel Adorni, the presidential spokesperson, emphasized during a press conference that this decision is strictly a matter for U.S. domestic politics. He stated, “We do not interfere, nor do we express opinions.” The Argentine government, led by Javier Milei, hopes for what they consider the best outcome for the Democratic Party and, overall, for American citizens during this electoral process.

In the wake of Biden’s withdrawal, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris announced her candidacy and is now seen as the leading contender among Democrats. She has garnered support from Biden himself, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as well as all Democratic governors across the country, many of whom were previously speculated to be potential candidates.

Milei, who is known for his admiration for former President Donald Trump, recently stated that his foreign policy decisions are not influenced by personal preferences. He declared on Neura radio, “My natural ally in the world is the United States, alongside Israel,” indicating a clear alignment in his foreign policy direction. He further clarified, “It doesn’t matter if a Democrat or Republican is in power; my favoring Republicans and liking Trump is a personal issue.”

Since taking office on December 10, Milei’s government has pivoted its foreign policy toward strengthening ties with the United States, Israel, and what he terms “the free world.” The libertarian leader has made several trips to the U.S., meeting with executives from major technology companies. Notably, he had the opportunity to meet Trump during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), highlighting his push for closer ties with the U.S.

This diplomatic stance is reflective of Milei’s broader approach since assuming the presidency, focusing on aligning Argentina with countries that share similar values and political ideologies.
