Aguascalientes Wins International Platinum Broom Award

Aguascalientes Wins International Platinum Broom Award

The mayor of Aguascalientes, Leo MontaƱez, announced that the municipality has once again received the prestigious international Escoba de Platino award and an Honorable Mention. This recognition solidifies Aguascalientesā€™ status as one of the cleanest and most exemplary cities in waste management.

The award, presented by the Technical Association for Waste Management and the Environment (ATEGRUS) in Madrid, Spain, was given in 2024 due to the effective urban solid waste management system implemented in the city.

Additionally, the Honorable Mention recognized the Community Service program. This initiative allows individuals who have committed administrative offenses to exchange their fines for community work, including cleaning and landscaping public spaces.

It is important to note that this marks the ninth time Aguascalientes has received the Escoba award and the seventh time it has earned the Escoba de Platino, which is ATEGRUS’s highest honor awarded biennially.

Carlos EspaƱa MartĆnez, the secretary of Public Services, reaffirmed the municipality’s commitment to promoting programs that encourage social and environmental awareness for the benefit of the community.
