The Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) has rejected a proposal by Magistrate Reyes RodrÃguez Mondragón concerning the organization of the XXIV Assembly of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the changes to its identity documents. The tribunal has requested that President Mónica Soto prepare a new proposal.
During a private session held on July 24, the magistrates did not support the suggestion to redirect the appeals to the National Commission of Party Justice. Additionally, they decided that the General Council of the National Electoral Institute (INE) should examine the matter within a timeframe of 10 days.
Voting against the proposal were the presiding magistrate and members Alfredo Fuentes Barrera and Felipe de la Mata Fuentes. This ruling allows the PRI to proceed with its internal process for renewing its National Leadership. Should the National Political Council (CPN) decide in favor, Alejandro “Alito” Moreno Cárdenas and Carolina Viggiano Austria could be re-elected to their respective positions.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing situation.
