The mayor of Saint-Denis has announced that American rapper Snoop Dogg will carry the Olympic torch on Friday, marking the final day of the relay in Seine-Saint-Denis before it returns to Paris. Alongside him, the actress Laetitia Casta and rapper MC Solaar will also be torchbearers.
On the last day of the relay, just ahead of the opening ceremony at night, Snoop Dogg will take the Olympic flame from Paris to Saint-Denis. This exciting news was shared by the mayor with the AFP news agency on July 22.
Mathieu Hanotin, the mayor from the Socialist Party, remarked that having the torch pass through Saint-Denis on this significant day underscores the importance of Seine-Saint-Denis within the Olympic framework.
At 52 years old, Snoop Dogg hails from Los Angeles, the city that will host the next Olympic Games in 2028. Known for his deep voice, long dreadlocks, and public persona tied to cannabis use, Snoop Dogg will also serve as a sports commentator for NBC during the Paris Olympics.
In addition to Snoop Dogg, actress Laetitia Casta, rapper MC Solaar, and former Ukrainian pole vaulter Sergei Bubka have been announced as other torchbearers for the event in Saint-Denis.
