On June 25, 2024, the fourth episode of “America’s Got Talent” season 19 aired, featuring a fresh batch of auditions and a new Golden Buzzer recipient. Host Terry Crews welcomed back judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara, who were treated to a diverse array of performances. Here, we rank the nine acts that advanced from worst to best, and ponder whether any of them have what it takes to win the million-dollar prize this year.
9. Hypers Kids Africa: This group charmed everyone with their interaction with the judges and Terry. Their dance had a TikTok vibe, but they quickly won over the audience, including the notoriously tough Howie. It would be surprising if they don’t make it to the live rounds.
8. Maya Neelakantan: A guitar prodigy since the age of six, Maya’s confidence and skill were astonishing. Her performance was mind-blowing, and it would be shocking if she doesn’t advance to the live rounds. It would be exciting to hear her tackle some classic rock songs.
7. Flewnt and Inkabee: This father-son duo brought smiles from the start, with Inkabee’s enthusiasm shining through. Their performance was a mix of Iggy Azalea and Drake, a huge compliment. Howie was right in calling Inkabee a superstar, and his future looks bright.
6. Brent Street: Led by Zack, a Shawn Mendes lookalike, this dance group received a Golden Buzzer from Howie, a surprising move from a judge known for his critical stance on dance acts. Their performance was Broadway-worthy, and they could do well in the competition.
5. Stephanie Rainey: The first musical act of the night left a lasting impression with her radio-ready song and unique vocal quality. Her performance brought Sofia to tears, and it was surprising she didn’t receive a Golden Buzzer.
4. DaksDominoes: Initially skeptical, the audience was asked to leave the theater for this act, raising questions about its feasibility in live rounds. However, the trick worked beautifully, despite a scary moment. The duo previously won “Domino Masters,” a real show on FOX.
3. Jo De Rijck: Despite the oddity of bathing with a chicken, this act was impressive. The chicken’s mind-reading abilities were unique and entertaining, making this act a strong contender for the live rounds.
2. Daniel Simu: A robot/human dance act that captivated the judges, except for Heidi. This act has the potential to be a full-blown Vegas show with more robots on stage. If he doesn’t win, Disney should consider him for a Tomorrowland show.
1. L6: This acapella group had a rocky start, prompting Simon to intervene. Once the technical issue was resolved, they wowed the crowd and judges. The ladies of the group were particularly impressive, making them a favorite in the competition. They deserved a Golden Buzzer.
