Anna Faris wishes she had the chance to know Matthew Perry better. The 47-year-old actress worked with the former ‘Friends’ star, who sadly passed away in October 2023 at the age of 54. She made a guest appearance in the last season of the beloved NBC comedy. Although she felt it was an “honor” to perform alongside him, she expressed regret over their limited interactions on set.
In an interview with People magazine, Anna shared her thoughts, saying, “It was an honor. He was an incredible person. I wish I had known him better. It feels a bit bold to talk too much about someone with whom I had such brief interactions, but they were wonderful, and I feel honored to have been part of the show.”
Anna, who starred in ‘My Spy’, explained that she understood Matthew had suggested her for the role of Erica, a pregnant woman who gives birth to twins adopted by Matthew’s character, Chandler, and his wife Monica, played by Courteney Cox. Anna still considers herself lucky to have been involved.
She recalled, “That’s what I understood at the time. He told me he had seen me in ‘Lost in Translation’ and thought I was good.” She primarily worked with Courteney and Matthew, both of whom treated her kindly. “It was such an intimidating idea, giving birth on ‘Friends.’ ‘Friends’? In the final season?”
Anna mentioned that the rest of the cast, including Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Lisa Kudrow, were “excited” during her scenes, as they were coming to the end of a decade-long run. Yet, she didn’t want to intrude too much into their emotional moments.
She added, “They were also getting very sentimental because they were finishing up. It was very emotional. At the same time, I thought, ‘Well, I should probably head back to my dressing room during this group hug. They don’t repeat much in the last season because I think I only get a check for nine cents every four months!'”
