Argentine athlete Fernanda Russo reveals her Olympic room in Paris: the “gifts” she received

Several Argentine athletes have begun arriving in Paris in preparation for the upcoming Olympic Games, set to kick off on Friday. Fernanda Russo, a 24-year-old shooter, has set up her temporary home in Châteauroux, located nearly 300 kilometers from the French capital. This will be her accommodation throughout the competition.

In a video shared on her Instagram (@russofernandaa), Fernanda took on the role of an influencer, inviting viewers to join her in exploring her room. “We’ve just arrived at what will be our home for the next 10 days here at the Olympics. Let me show you around,” she said. She explained that Châteauroux is a residential area close to the shooting range complex.

Fernanda is scheduled to have her first training session on Friday as she prepares for the women’s 10m air rifle qualification. During her video, she showcased her lodging, mentioning, “We got the first room, named Pesi. As you can see, we have wooden beds rather than the cardboard beds.”

One of the most striking aspects for Fernanda was the thoughtful details left by the organizers in her room. “These are some of the goodies waiting for us when we arrived,” she shared. “There’s a lovely microfiber towel, metal and plastic water bottles, some condoms, and my personal favorite—a tag for the vending machines. It allows us to grab drinks like water, sodas, or juices with no limits.”

Fernanda’s journey to the Olympics has not been without challenges. She faced a disappointing experience at the Tokyo 2020 Games due to the pandemic, which left her in a tough position. After that, she reassessed her sporting career while studying Sports Management at UADE. In 2024, after a remarkable third consecutive medal win at the Santiago Pan American Games, which secured her Olympic qualification, she traveled to Europe for competitions. She emerged victorious at the Meyton Cup in Innsbruck, the same city where she won her first international event at just 14 years old. Additionally, she has moved to Germany to join a local team in the only professional league for shooting sports.

“I have received an offer to stay and compete in this league next season. It’s an amazing goal to pursue after the Paris Games,” she said in an exclusive interview a few months ago. “It’s always challenging to plan sporting ambitions after giving your all in the biggest event, which everyone dreams of.”

Fernanda Russo is a prominent figure in Argentine shooting sports. Born on October 2, 1999, in Córdoba, she has represented her country in various international competitions. She notably claimed a silver medal in the 10m air rifle at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing in 2014. Her Olympic journey continued in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, where she finished 20th in her specialty, and in Tokyo 2020, where she placed 40th individually and 27th in the mixed team event. Her hard work and skills have solidified her reputation as one of Argentina’s top shooters.
